Beijing Again

We are going to Beijing tonight for our Christmas shopping and our unfailing bi-monthly visit to the Steak Factory. We’ll stay there for a few days so I can take my mind off my blogs in this time. I don’t have my shopping list yet because I still don’t have any idea what to give to close relatives this Christmas. R is always ready when it comes to this—he loves shopping more than I do and he is unstoppable when it comes to buying electronic gadgets and other things he sees as “cool stuffs”.

I am too lazy to travel but everything is booked and prepared already to there’s no turning back now. The only thing I am looking forward to is the fact that it is warmer in Beijing than here. A few days there should be good.

Pictures will be posted when I get back.

I Have Reached My Limit

I am now a proud owner of five blogs and I really think that I have reached my maximum load when it comes to blogging. Five blogs to update, to promote, to develop, to design, and to manage! Wow!

Yesterday, I created my fifth (and looks like my last) blog. I bought a domain name for it along with a web hosting plan which allows me to host 3 domain names and 50 subdomain names. The package also includes an unlimited bandwidth. I know for sure that a single starting blog will not consume a lot of bandwidth in a month and the 50 subdomains will then be just for nothing because I just need one domain so I decided to give away some subdomain names to friends whom I know personally.

I have installed a WordPress blog in it plus I also installed WordPress blogs for my friends whom I have given the free subdomain names to. They have the flare for writing but I believe they’re not that savvy when it comes to web logging. These made me so busy yesterday. I will be heading to Beijing this evening together with my geeky hubby, Marcus and two of his colleagues. We have to do our Christmas shopping and pay visit to the super duper great Steak Factory. Yum Yum! We’ll stay there for two days so I will surely miss my blogs.

The Problem with Smorty

I have constantly advertise Smorty for free in all my blogs. I constantly mentioned them. Sure, I made two sponsored posts about Smorty in some of my blogs but I also gave them some linky love because I truly believe that Smorty is a great company.

The following paragraph is my comment on Philaahzophy’s post about his recent problem with Smorty.

I have written for Smorty using one of my blogs and I didn’t have a problem with them until today. I received those 2 messages in my control pannel too, they didn’t bother me that much because I believe these messages don’t concern me. First, I dont write for PPP, second I dont place tags saying that my posts are sponsored, third–I never deleted any sponsored posts I did for them.

I know for sure, I didn’t break any of Smorty’s rule so I am very surprised to learn today that the remaining payments to me is being withheld. The reason they say is because “I deleted some posts” … what the hell!!!! ????

A wordpress blog would display the 10 most recent posts, so automatically the older posts would be displayed on the next page. I cannot understand why they said I deleted the posts I did for them! If they care to go on the next page then they will see that the posts are right there!

They still owe me 192$!!! I emailed them about this and I hope I will get the reply tomorrow.

So yeah, I am having a problem with Smorty too. I hope that it’s just becasue of some bugs and that Smorty will fix it immediately because if not, a bad publicity like the one Bloggerwave got will be upon them and it will spread like wildfire!

BlogLeafs.com

Today is the birth of my fifth blog.

BlogLeafs.com will be about friends, acquaintances, and general stuffs about dealing and socializing with people.

I bought the domain with a web hosting plan and since the package includes 50 subdomains and unlimited bandwidth, I decided to give away subdomains to friends who I think are interested in writing but are not that internet savvy to create their own blogs.

Be Listed in My Blog Roll!

Today I thought of my blog roll. As you can see, it’s pretty empty so I am inviting anyone who has blogs of general / personal niche to exchange links with me. If you are interested, give me a comment and I will add you in my blog roll providing that you agree to put link to my blog with the title “Vienna’s Blog” on your blog roll too. Alright, I don’t have a high page rank to boast or a good Alexa Traffic Rank but that’s because this blog is new. I am very determined to make this blog grow so though it looks like you won’t benefit in this link exchange now, you will in three to four months time.

Today’s Thoughts

Less and less proxy sites are able to work here in China. It sucks! It’s getting more and more difficult to update this blog and to blog-hop each time.

I just watched the movie “Gracie”. Nice movie.

The laundry is waiting in the ironing room for me. Waahhhhh! Hate it, hate it, hate it!

Friends are coming over tomorrow evening for dinner. I will make chicken pasta with white wine. It should be good.

We are pairing up a friend to one of R’s college. They will meet for the first time tomorrow here at home. (I am playing Cupid.)

We are going to Beijing this Saturday so all my blogs will not be updated until Monday next week. Or maybe by miracle I get the patience to use R’S EDGE internet connection. Hmm… we will see.

It’s so damn cold here. It hurts to go outside.

An Introduction

I am a geek and so is my husband, Marcus. Though both can be called a computer geek, we have totally different interest when it comes to computer. I am interested in blogging and web designing and Marcus is interested in different engineering soft wares and Linux. We have three laptops at home. One is mine and the other two is his (unfair!). Anyway, he uses the other one for work and the other one for Linux. He bought an extra laptop just so he can run Linux on it. How extravagant geek is that!? I am pretty much contented with my Fujitsu Siemens laptop. It’s strong and fast enough with its 80G capacity, 1024 RAM, 1.73GHz, and 2200BG wireless adapter. Marcus’ computers are of course way stronger and faster because he needs to run so various soft wares in them like CATIA, ADOBE CS3, Sketchpad, Alias, and a lot more designing/engineering soft wares you can think of.

We are a childless couple. Reason to this is because we just got married and we plan not to have a child for two more years. We would like to enjoy this time with just the two of us. Babies will come when we are back and settled in Europe. That’s the plan but if we get babies anytime soon then that’s perfectly fine too.

We live in China. Marcus works for a car manufacturing company as an Engineer and I blog. I have four blogs to maintain and this one is the youngest blog I have. I used to teach English to Chinese kids but I stopped a year ago and decided to just stay at home. I love how things are and I love what I do. Blogging gives me so much time for myself and for Marcus. I am not pressured by any boss and I can choose when to work—isn’t that great.

I have big hopes for this blog and I hope that someday, I will be able to achieve them.

A Shameful Story About a Filipino Teacher

We had visitors last weekend, Jane and Juergen. We were invited to their home last time so we thought of inviting them over in return. I cooked shrimps and calamari and I made salad with special balsamic mix dressing for dinner. Jane brought a cake for dessert. This simple, quiet and intimate evening went fine. We talked about a lot of things but the thing I remember the most is the one Jane told me about Juergen’s birthday party.

Juergen and Jane invited a lot of people including Juergen’s collegue, Jane’s colleagues, Jane’s students, and some other Filipino friends. Jane and I were working in the same Agency which finds schools for us to teach in. Last December, I left that company but I kept my friends and though I am no longer teaching, I am still invited to attend most Filipino teacher activities here. On Juergen’s birthday, Jane invited a colleague, Pete who invited another colleague and I will name that colleague Lester. Neither Jane nor Juergen know Lester but since he was brought to the party by Pete, it wasn’t a problem—they welcomed him anyway. Lester is also a Filipino teacher and he just got here. Pete, who is a nice guy, thought of bringing Lester to the party for him to meet fellow Filipino teachers.

A large portion of the guests in that party got drunk including my husband Marcus. That was the very reason why we went home earlier than the rest. After the party in the flat, Jane, Juergen and all of their remaining guests went to a bar and the shameful story started there. There was this kid named John, he is one of Jane’s 19-year old Chinese students. I remember him as tall, good looking and smart college kid. John went to the bar along with the other remaining guests and like the others, he also got so drunk. The party went on but since everybody was drunk they must have lost count of who were going and who were staying at the bar with them. The night ended peacefully but everybody was shocked when they heard the news the day after. This college kid John beat the Filipino teacher, Lester. Why? Because apparently Lester molested him in his drunkenness. Lester took the very drunk John to his flat and molested him there. The fact that Lester is married and has two kids back home in the Philippines and that he doesn’t look like or act like he is gay makes it more surprising. Nobody knew, not even Pete, that Lester is gay.

No matter how Lester justifies his action, it could never be seen as “right”. He is a teacher and John is a student. The mother of John was crying to Jane and asking her why she let this thing happen to their only child. They allow John to accept Jane’s invitation because they trusted Jane. Now Jane is also in an awkward situation. Lester not only brought Jane and Pete embarrassment but he brought shame to the whole of the Filipino community here specially to fellow teachers who are gay. There is a considerable number of Filipino gay teachers here but I know them as respectable and excellent teachers. How could he? How could he in his few weeks here put a disgraceful mark to the reputation of the Filipino teachers?

Now, the matter is brought to the attention of Chinese authorities because John’s father is a police. Everybody’s waiting what will happen next. I am a Filipino and I am proud to be one but in this case, my sympathy goes to John and not to a fellow Filipino.
