A Bit of my Blogging History

I started blogging at the age of 20 in one the most popular blogging sites that time—Livejournal. I kept it for about two years then I deleted it. Since then, I start creating one blog after another and deleting each one as I leave them.

I continued blogging when I came to China but not a single blog lasted for a year because every now and then China would block blogging sites so the effect was I keep creating accounts in whatever available blogging site there is. I have been a member of different blogging sites like Blogger, Livejournal, WordPress, Xanga, Bravejournal, GreatestJournal, and etc. I think I have two separate accounts here in WordPress. I remember when I created the first account, WordPress got blocked. Then when the GFWC unblocked WordPress, I created this one… and it is still alive until now because I already learned how to use proxy sites and freegate softwares.

I am not currently in China now but my guess is that WP.com is still blocked.

I have started self hosted blogs too. In fact, at some point I thought of importing “My Take on Things’” archive to “My Pink Notes”. I even transferred some entries already. But I realized that it would be such a waste to leave this blog. I have already exerted time and effort in it so it is difficult for me to just shun it away. I really would like to keep this blog.

    Vienna,

We have almost the same history. My blogs didn’t last long before because of my experiments. I have deleted around 5 blogs already not knowing how important it is to maintain blogs especially if you have written more than 10 posts per blog already. now, i can see how valuable those articles could have been if i only had the patience to keep them.

  2. Greetings!

I have friends who just moved to China (Nanjing) to live, study, and work for a few years. Shortly before they left the US they set up a WordPress blog as a way to tell family & friends back home about their experiences. As you and your commenters can guess, they are unable to access their blog. They’ve asked me to do some research for them… any advice? It’s a fairly new blog, so if there’s some other blogging service that isn’t blocked and/or unreliable, it wouldn’t be a big deal for them to create a new blog. Of course, if there were a way for them to update their wp blog, that’d be ideal, but from what I’ve found so far, that’s not likely.

    Thanks for any assistance!
