This is an excerpt quoted in a magazine I am reading at the moment and I will surely remember this for a long time.
Those of you who recognise the obstacles, who do not shut your eyes to them, who admit their presence and at unexpected moments, too; those of you who realize that the way is rugged and you can’t get there in a Cadillac or a shopping cart for that matter; those of you who are equipped with the talent and also with those qualities without which talent cannot make itself heard—determination, stubbornness, adaptability, the gift of being able to take and profit by criticism, and the absolute will to win—you will become writers, if you aren’t already.
-Faith Sullivan, The Writer, 1952
