Excuse Me, What?

slipstream.jpgExcuse me but I hope you don’t expect me to stay awake all throughout this movie. I do admire Anthony Hopkins in almost all of the movies he starred in but not in this one. It’s awful enough that they tried so hard to complicate the story but not revealing the story makes it all worthless. Okay… maybe I missed it but just because of the jumbled and confusing random audio and video cuts. It’s a crazy film so unless you are the artsy type who likes profound, weird and chaotic movies, Slipstream might be interesting for you but for regular movie fans like me, this movie is a total waste of time.

And oh, at the early part of the movie, I am sure I’ve seen extremely brief cuts showing Hitler then later the Swastika sign. What are these cuts doing in the movie?

A Mexican Restaurant in our Place

Sol Latino is a relatively new Mexican restaurant in Changchun owned and run by a  Mexicans. It is located along a small not-so busy street parallel to Tong Zhi Jie. The restaurant itself has two storeys. The first floor has the main bar and the dining tables. I suppose, this is where people have their meal. The second floor has a smaller bar and it has coffee tables with matching chairs and benches perfect for those who would like to sit, read, and have a coffee.

The wall, furniture and decorations are all of Mexican theme which gives the restaurant a vibrant feel. I’ve been there twice and was amazed both times. The place is neat, food is fantastic, and the service is great plus it is not expensive. I also like the fact that they have a wireless internet connection free for their costumers. One of these days, I’ll definitely go there again for a cup of coffee.

I particularly love their pineapple cake, enchiladas, Maya soup and other Mexican pastries and drinks. I also like the fact that it is not crowded. I should enjoy it now before word of mouth spreads making people crowd this restaurant.

Narcissistic Plan

I decided to get the scar off my leg before summer so I can wear my summer clothes that require me to show off some skin. I will ask my friend Eun Hye if she knows a place where I can get the job done. She’s Korean but she can read and speak Chinese well so it won’t be a problem for her to check the phone directory and ask around for me. She also went through a laser procedure to remove hairs on her leg so I suppose, she knows a lot about this kind of stuff.

I won’t go far. I’ll do it here. Eun Hye mentioned that there are some really good clinics here so I’ll give it a shot. If it would be my face, I will be double-careful. Facelifts and other surgery done on the face like Boca facelifts can rejuvenate the face and can restore a youthful look but this is not what I need right now. If I were to go through these kinds of surgery, I will definitely be very cautious. It has to be in the best clinic with the best Surgeons and the best facilities. But I just wanted to remove a scar. It’s just a part of a skin on my leg they are going to touch… if it didn’t work (i hope it will!), the damage should not be life changing.

So whether or not Marcus is comfortable that I get it done here, I will still do it here.

I'm Back

I am back from Beijing. The train ride was not that bad. I was still able to sleep. The only uncool thing was that we were not in one cabin. Daniel and Anne had to stay in another cabin with four other strangers and Marcus and I stayed in the cabin next to theirs (to go and to go back). That took away the fun part from going to Beijing by train with your buddies. Nobody in Anne and Daniel’s cabin wanted to exchange tickets with us and it’s the same with the strangers in our cabin (bunch of party poopers). They didn’t want four foreigners to stay in one cabin and have fun. The rest of the trip was okay and I will definitely post some pictures later.

In the meantime, I will bore you with some things like the comment given to me in one of my posts about Getting Married to a Filipina. You may go check it out and leave your thoughts. I am thrilled that my blog is being read by some people who are actually interested what I write and in what I say about their situation. Cool. :)
