Rendezvous with nature

dscf0173.jpgWhew! I just came back from my daily morning run-walk-jog. Not necessarily in the same order though. I have been doing this for a month now. I do 2 miles each day, rain or shine. I love it. It’s fun. I already lost 15 pounds.

Today, I took the same route – the dirt road in the middle of the woods. I prepare this route because there are only few cars that pass by. I like that route because the maple trees are already budding. I love the route because I always encounter something different each day.

Today, as I walked about a quarter of a mile, I saw a gang of wild turkeys by the brook. Today, on my way back I saw a woodpecker by the maple tree. Today, I couple of chipmunks crossed the street and checked me out. I am in Maine, so I am always amazed.

It’s nice out. It’s 54 degrees and kinda balmy. It’s indeed a nice day today.

The Carpenter’s Wife’s Job

I am a carpenter’s wife. My hubby knows a lot of stuff about houses. He has built hundreds of houses in past 20 years. As a carpenter’s wife, I only manage the house.

As a carpenter’s wife, sometimes I tag along with hubby when he scouts for building materials. It’s unbeatable specially, if we are on our way to a weekend retreat. I cannot complain if we have to do a side trips. But most of the time he would browse for materials in the internet. That’s more convenient but still I have to be by his side for the decision making because he trusts my taste, so to speak. And blinds are one of the materials that he always looking for. The light filtering shade is my favorite because it is very stylish and has a unique design.

I am but a carpenter’s wife. My husband builds the house. But I know everything beautiful about the house.

Is it Pure Luck?

I bought a Powerball ticket today hoping that I would win the 26 million dollars jackpot. Oh well, I am feeling lucky today [just like every Saturday and Wednesday of the week, that’s the draw days for Powerball, get it?]

Am I alone here? Am I the only one hoping that Lady Luck will give me a chance to get rich quick and easy? Can you blame me? Isn’t it hard to work and still under-paid. There are bills that I need to pay… things that I need to purchase… and a future that I need to secure.
There are people who are really lucky. I hope tonight, I will join the group.

Trade Show Displays

My hubby and I love to go to fairs and trade show. We went to a lot of fairs and shows last summer because it was fun to see a lot of new products in the market and I love the food. My mother-in-law, on the other hand, loves to join the trade fair. She would rent a space and sell all her doll dresses that she made herself.

Joining the trade show is a good way to promote one’s business or product. It can generate income and exposure. But like any other businesses, one needs a good marketing strategy to be able to attract costumers. And during that time that I went either with my Hubby or Mother-in-law, I noticed that those stalls that have nice and unique product displays and paraphernalia attracted a lot of interested buyers and customers. Well, trade show displays give one’s business a good boost in terms of advertising. I guess my mother-in-law has to consider that idea this year.

My Students are Smarter than Me

classroomI am a teacher by profession. I have been in the teaching profession for more than a decade. It was the most productive stage in my life. And as a teacher, I realized that sometimes my students are smarter than me. [Hmmm… maybe we could come up with a new game show as a counter part for Fox’s “Are you smarter than a 5th Grader?” Nah! That was a lousy idea. Told you, my students are really smarter than me.]

Being a teacher I realized that I didn’t only teach my students but I learned from them as well. My students taught me patience. Just like my hubby, as I have mentioned in my other post, Patience is not also my middle name. But then, dealing with them, I got myself an “alias”. They taught me perseverance. They taught me that faith goes beyond believing. And they taught me that trust is more than having confidence in other people.

It was really amazing how we can learn from our young ones. Their innocence is a gift that we grown-ups have given up a long time ago due to ambitions, desires, and greed. Sadly we cannot take it back. But what we can take is the lessons and the inspirations that they are innocently teaching and giving us every day of our lives. Let’s just hope that we are not blind.

Web Hosting Choice

I am a blogger. And being so, I can say that I take advantage of all the benefits that our globalized world is offering.

If you are a blogger, then you are someone who is caught in the “web” of technological hoopla like a brave bug trying to fight the mighty spider to stay alive.

If you are not a blogger, in this modern day, you could be someone who simply loves to work in a computer or fascinated by it.

Therefore, given this premise, you are not different from the rest of us. If you are living in this era, it is inevitable that you cannot survive without the internet too.

Given this situation, computer and internet has become a way of life to this generation of writers and bloggers alike. We are in this era where a lot of good opportunities are simply a click away. So why not take advantage of that. Having your own personal website is a cool thing now. A lot of people are doing it because there are more advantages to it than using the free web hosting sites. You have more freedom to manage your own blog and do a lot of things that is not available in a free hosting website. But looking for a reliable web host is not easy and a bit tricky. Choosing the right web host for personal or business site is a major decision, so to speak. And with this in mind, web hosting choice is the one who could help you with your decision to take your blogging to the next level.

The new era of computer and internet has gone beyond what its inventors could have imagined. So why not, take advantage of the endless opportunities we have in our hands today. Let’s click.
