Not Another Toilet Humor

Earthquakes scared me out of my wits.
It was around a quarter past 4 in the afternoon of July 16th 1990 when Baguio City was hit by a 7.7 tremor [at the Richer Scale] that lasted 45 seconds. I was inside the restroom [of all places] doing my private business at that very moment when the entire Fil-Estate Building at Ortigas shook hard. It was so hard that I freaked out when I saw the wall cracked before my eyes. I hurriedly finished whatever I was doing and ran to the door. I freaked out some more when I can’t open the door of the restroom. I was stuck inside.
That incident cannot qualify as a toilet humor. It was the most unimaginable experience I had. I was thinking what if the building crash down and everyone in it died. They would find my sweet b-u-t-t under the rubble of that toilet. And I will be history.
Seriously, it was so egotistic of me to think of myself at that time. When I saw the outcome of that earthquake the following day in the news, I cried. I was ashamed that I was just thinking of my good reputation and there were lots of people who never had the chance to survive the tragedy.
