Grand Vacation for Dish Washer

choresJust like any chores… I hate doing the dishes. But I hate to see pile of dirty dishes in the sink too. We do have a dish washer but since we want to save on energy and help save the earth too, we gave our poor dish washer a grand vacation till Thanksgiving Day and I took over the job. And so, since my predicament is personal and undeniably an un-argumentative premise, I have to teach myself to love the things I hate. Oh well, hypothetically speaking, at least. Now, I have to rest my case… and DO THE DISHES! Darn it!

When in Rome

Europe is a very romantic place and worth creating unforgettable romantic memories with loved ones. And if there is one special place that people will always wanted to visit… Rome definitely is on top of the list. It is a dream comes true, if you were able to see Rome once in your lifetime.

It was indeed a dream come true to my BFF who recently married the man of his dream. And since they finally decided to spend the rest of their life together… they spent the first day of their life together in Rome. They spent a 2-week long of romantic getaway in Rome, [of course, with my help]. Yup, good thing I found this VacationRentalRome.com in the internet and told them about it. From the website they were able to find affordable vacation rentals in Rome and they were given the best options for accommodations in one of the best and convenient locations in the famous city. VacationRentalRome.com is an online source to find vacation rental apartments in Rome, B & B, a hotel room or even a vacation home or villa.

So, if you are planning for a romantic honeymoon or simply an exciting family adventure in Rome, VacationRentalRome.com is the best place to search because they offer many other services like instant booking via credit card for accommodation, flight reservations, airport shuttle service, 24hr telephone service, parking options, city guides and even wi-fi connections.

So when in Rome… don’t just do what the Romans do… let them do it for you.

Some Things Have Changed

I blame it on not being able to blog for almost two months!

Yep, all my blogs PR suffered because they were not updated for 6 weeks or more.

Also, I want to say that although I will not drop this blog completely, I would like to leave this blog slowly so  if you still want to read about me, please visit me on my new personal blog ViennaLopez.com. See you there.

Time for a New Computer

My Fujitsu laptop is gone. Because it’s the oldest of our three laptops, we gave it away to Marcus’ younger brother. I now use Marcus’ (now mine) super compact 12.4” laptop and I like it but I realized that the screen is way too small for my rapidly deteriorating eyes so I am now in search for a new computer.

Since I work mostly at home, I decided to get a desktop computer with a big LCD monitor. And as for the laptop, I will still keep it so I have something to use when I am on the go. In my search of a new desktop computer, I stumbled upon Dealtime.co.uk. They have a lot of cheap computers on their list and they offer other electronic products too. They have TVs, DVD players, MP4s, cell phones and a lot more. It’s like a huge online department store! So if you are looking for something online, whatever it is, you might want to check out Dealtime.co.uk first.

Free Internet in Shanghai

We got here in Shanghai on June 30. When we finally arrived at our hotel, the first thing I searched for is an internet connection. I was itching to blog but I needed an internet connection for something which is more important like looking for a flat and sure enough, the 102 Euro per night hotel has internet connection but they charge an incredible amount of 0.10 Euro per minute or a maximum of 8 Euro per day. Though I know that it’s Marcus’ company handling our hotel bills, it just didn’t feel right. I mean, I wouldn’t want to spend that much for a 24 hour internet connection and although I will not be the one to pay it, I will not give in to any of these over priced hotels. No no.

So what I did was search for an unsecured wireless connection and I was lucky because when I placed my computer right beside the window, there were about 11 wireless connection and 3 or 4 of them were unsecured. We were in the 30th floor—good place for my WLAN to get some signals from nearby wireless connections. So I had 22 days of free internet.

Shanghai is a very modern city and wireless internet connections are rampant. You can get an unsecured wireless connection just about anywhere for free. But you should know that connecting to an “unsecured” wireless network has some risks. For example, other computers connected to the unsecured network can attack your computer and steal private data. In my case, my laptop is pretty empty so it was not a very big risk for me.

Checked Out

After 22 days of staying in a hotel, we were finally able to move in to our new flat!

I was so itching to move out of the hotel since there’s nothing I can do there. Sure, a lot of major pedestrian zones are easy to get to from the hotel but who wants to go out every day? Who wants to eat out every meal? For sure, I will never be that person.

I like being home and I believe that being in a hotel, no matter how luxurious the hotel is, cannot be compared to being at home. I like cooking and other things you can’t do in a hotel. Also, I am not comfortable about my laundry being taken cared of by other people. Imagine my horror when I imagined my laundry being done with other people’s laundry!? I don’t mind mixing my laundry with my husband’s but with strangers’ laundry!? Call me crazy but I really do have a problem with that.

I am glad that I got a month of clothing in my luggage so it was not a big problem not to do my laundry right away but with Marcus, it was a different story but it was okay since he doesn’t have the same problem like mine.

So anyway, I am just happy that we are now home and that our hotel days are over.

Say Goodbye to Tired Red Eyes

I have astigmatism and it was not a big problem until after four years of working in front of a computer. I was 24 when I got a -1.5/-1.5 (R/L) eyeglasses prescription. That was not severe and I was still able to function well without the eyeglasses so I didn’t really take ‘wearing eyeglasses’ seriously.

Early last year I noticed that I found it difficult to read and the blur vision got more intense so I needed to consult an ophthalmologist again. I was informed that my lens’ grades went up to -2.00/-1.75 (R/L) and last month, I got yet another prescription, -2.25/-2.00 (R/L). I blame the rapid deterioration of my eyes on staying too long in front of the computer.

So anyway, I was advised to seriously consider wearing eyeglasses all the time. Of course that was not a good deal for me because I hate wearing eyeglasses. I think they make me look older so I chose to wear contact lenses instead. After trying several brands of contact lenses, I settled with Acuvue Oasys because unlike the others, Acuvue Oasys lenses don’t dry out while they’re on so my eyes don’t get irritated. And because they are constantly moist, I feel comfortable when I have them on. With Acuvue Oasys, I don’t need to worry about getting tired red eyes. Acuvue Oasys is recognized as the number one brand of contact lens in America and anyone can order them easily at Lens.com.

The House that Good Wife Makes a Home

choresWhat makes a house… a home? And who makes the house… a home? It’s the wife’s duty to make sure that the house runs accordingly, the budget works efficiently and the husband lives conveniently (duh!). Anyway, with the high price of goods, I can’t help but explore all possible options to keep up with the bills, expenses and savings [if there is any left]. Because whatever happens, it is my sole responsibility to keep the family – well fed… the house – well kept and the husband – well loved.
