Hateful Comments

For almost a year of serious blogging, I received my share of hate comments and hate emails. Most of these are of course “anonymous” so I don’t know exactly who is who (not that I am interested).

I get comments like “You stupid piece of ****, you should go out and get some education!”

But like most bloggers, I just ignore these hateful comments. Of course I read them (just like the rest of the comments and emails I get) but I delete them instantly. These cowards don’t have a place in my blogs. So too bad for them, I am the admin of my blogs… I can filter everything in it even their nasty comments.

Dressing Up for Autumn

I have to admit that it is a little bit difficult for me—a tropical girl—to pair up clothes for autumn. This is not my first autumn but I still didn’t learn how to properly dress up for it.

For regular autumn day, I think I can manage—jeans, sweater, and jackets. That is basic. But you see, we’ll be flying tomorrow to Austria and we are attending this party on Saturday evening. How will I dress for a semi-formal party in autumn?

vienna-autumn.JPG

It’s easy to dress up for summer and winter but for spring and autumn? I find it difficult to look for autumn clothes because for one, I don’t like their colors. For this year’s autumn, it seems that the “in” color is purple and all its darker shades. Iw! Other options are gray, brown, maroon, beige, and black.—how bleak! And another reason is that temperature here in Shanghai is still warm so I don’t see a lot of stores selling autumn clothes yet and we don’t exactly have the luxury of time to shop when we arrive in Austria.

So… I don’t know. I only have today to look for something “nice” (as Marcus describes it) and if I can’t he just have to bear going to the party with me wearing what I think is good enough to keep me warm.

Something We Should Know About Ruth Parasol

Ruth Parasol, as many of you might have heard, is a self-made billionaire known for being a founding member of the largest online gaming community but many of us don’t know that Ruth Parasol is also a strong believer of philanthropy. ruth_parasol.jpgIn fact, she is the person behind Bonita Trust—an independent charity found on the mission to enrich Gibraltar community. From the time it was founded, Bonita Trust has grown and at the moment it is extending its mission to other countries like India.

Initially, Bonita Trust launched programs of endowments to educational, cultural, health and community projects in Gibraltar. Now, Bonita Trust is making significant donations to give free reconstructive surgery and treatment to underprivileged children in India who have cleft lip and cleft palate. Bonita Trust also has other programs like raising funds for specialist tuition for dyslexic children and for skin cancer awareness campaigns.

Ruth Parasol is among those women who use their success to help other people in need and we can learn a lot from her. We don’t have to be billionaires to reach out and help the communities we live in. I am sure that any kind of help, big or small, from each and every one of us can sum up to great things.

Wordcamp Shirt

wps.jpgHere’s the free shirt I got from the recent WordCamp China 2008. Cool, eh! But not as cool as the ones from WordCamp Philippines 2008. Matt Mullenweg is also so fascinated by it that he mentioned it again in the WordCamp China 2008 in Shanghai. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a video of it to show you guys but based on memory, he said the following;

Matt: WordCamp Philippines’ shirt is really cool. It has this tilted “W” inside a sun and it is like a shirt you can put on to go to a bar of something.

Kudos to those who designed the shirt! You made it really cool. I wonder how can I get one of those….

Just Updates

We’re almost ready.

We successfully bought all the presents and packed our luggage. Just a few more errands and we’ll be all set. Our flight will be in the evening and we will be landing in Munich at 5:00 am or something. It will be a looong fligh. This time, our vacation is shorter than the last May. I’ll be back in two weeks.

Ruthi will continue managing My Pink Notes and Angel will post a guest post tin Bizarre Marriage. I will try to manage the rest.

If you haven’t yet, read about my Wordcamp 2008 experience here or check out my latest project here.

Fall is Here

fallI turn on my computer every morning upon waking up. It is the very first task I do every morning as I jump out of the bed before I go straight to the bathroom. It’s out of habit or maybe because I depend so much on my computer on almost everything like… checking the time… the weather… my bank account and what not. After my regular early morning trip to the bathroom I would sit on my computer and do the drill.

Today, my weather bug says… it’s officially the start of Fall season. It means a lot. It means that “summer” is over… it means that “winter” is just around the corner… it also means that I need to clean up the clutter and start bringing out my fall/winter totes and put my summer clothes in its totes to keep it in the cellar until it’s time to bring it out again.

Another Headache Cure

The computer is running slow this morning and I hate it. It is a Monday today and I have a lot of catching up to do with my blogging. This can’t be right. I don’t know what’s going on so I googled something and this is what I read… “Unless you update your drivers regularly the odds are that your PC will be slower or more likely to crash, or will have problems connecting with peripherals”.

Oh My God! This can’t be happening. I need a faster computer because I am a multi-tasker. I usually have 3 to 5 windows open all at the same time because I blog hop. So I need a solution and I am glad that I found Uniblue.com which provides DriverScanner. Uniblue has the answer for my pc problem. I realized that unless I regularly update my drivers my pc won’t run as it used to. It may even create problems from somewhat minor like running slow to major headache such as system crash. And in order to avoid such problems I need to keep updating my drivers and to do this I need a driver scanner software that will do the job.

Good thing the solution comes in handy with Uniblue.com. I downloaded the software I need from the website and I scanned my computer to identify the entire outdated driver and that is free of charge. I just registered the software for only $29.95 and I can use all the cool features and download the latest drivers I need. Now, my computer is running fast and I am headache-free.
