Hateful Comments

For almost a year of serious blogging, I received my share of hate comments and hate emails. Most of these are of course “anonymous” so I don’t know exactly who is who (not that I am interested).
I get comments like “You stupid piece of ****, you should go out and get some education!”
But like most bloggers, I just ignore these hateful comments. Of course I read them (just like the rest of the comments and emails I get) but I delete them instantly. These cowards don’t have a place in my blogs. So too bad for them, I am the admin of my blogs… I can filter everything in it even their nasty comments.

I don’t get people who leave hateful comments. There must be something about the act that gives them such pleasure, a superficial sense of power. It’s pathetic, if you ask me. Cheers!
hi! I LOVE YOUR BLOG!!! I always try to check it out everytime I come online
I especially like bizaar marriages. I want to have a blog like yours
and about those jerks, don’t mind them, they’re just envious
Just ignore them. Cowards hide behind the anonymity of the web. I’m betting mostly they are jealous of you. Pitiful, really.
On google, I just typed in “hateful comments on the internet” and this is the second page that came up. I am looking into this because I am surprised and appalled by the apparent increase in amount of hateful comments on the internet.
I am a musician, and, through channels like craigslist and youtube, I also receive unpleasant, hateful comments from anonymous people. What is wrong with these people that are doing this? You wouldn’t put a mask on and go up to a complete stranger on the street or on the bus and say things to belittle them and try to make them feel like shit! What makes it acceptable on the internet? Is it the sense of anonymity, paired with the ability to voice an opinion? This boggles my mind. I’m beginning to see the internet as less of a place to communicate with people, and more like a mob-mentality riot in progress that I’d rather not be a part of any more.
I’m commenting on your subject in a pleasant way, and want you to know that you’re not alone. I think people need to be aware of this growing problem, and it shouldn’t be tolerated, in my opinion, but, hey, what can we do? We can delete the messages in our inboxes, but what about the comments on publicly visible pages? Most of them are extremely offensive, and I consider many of them to be hateful.
It seems like every time I watch a video on youtube, no matter how unpolitical or neutral or silly the video may be, there are THOUSANDS of hateful, racist, degrading, and obscene comments that leave me shaking with anger.
What is going on!?!? How far will it go??
