Looking Forward to Christmas

Four weeks from now we will be heading to Austria for our Christmas holiday. That could only mean massive shopping for gifts. I asked my husband’s relatives if they could send us their Christmas list so we could save time thinking what to buy but I don’t think they’d be giving it to us. Maybe it is out of modesty or maybe they just want to keep the surprise and excitement. It could also be both.

In my case, I got my Christmas gift from Marcus already but even so, I am still looking forward to the occasion because these means a lot of things I enjoy like wrapping gifts, putting up the Christmas tree, decorating the house, and sitting by the fire just talking and enjoying the cozy atmosphere.

Experiencing a Painful Jaw

My German lessons will end in three weeks time. How I wish it would end sooner because I have to do a lot of things before we go to Austria for Christmas…like a dentist appointment. You see, I have a feeling that I am suffering a sickness called TMJ dysfunction. I didn’t know that exists but when I noticed that I experience painful jaw locks in the last few months, I decided to research about it and viola! I have all the symptoms of a TMJ dysfunction. I hope it is nothing serious and it can be treated immediately. I also hope that I can find a very good specialist to treat me here in Shanghai.

There is one thing I learned about TMJ though and that is, it can be caused by being under a tremendous stress and anger. Well, I think I had both in the previous months: anger for an ex-friend (I have written about that here and here and here) and stress because of the big Integration and Language Exam in Austria (which I passed by the way).

I hope this uncomfortable feeling goes away soon because it’s really annoying me.

Box of Chocolates

gertrudehawkchocolates.jpegMy birthday is still three weeks away but I already got my birthday gift and I am really loving it. Although my husband told me that that should be it and that I should not expect more on my birthday, I just know that he will still do something special for me on that particular day. I don’t know yet what he’ll do but I am sure that I’ll receive a bouquet from him plus a small sweet gift like a teddy bear or a box of chocolates. Though these gifts are very common, I always appreciate them more than the expensive ones.

I think that chocolate gifts and flowers always melt the hearts of women who receive them. A man can never go wrong about giving a woman flowers and chocolates because these are always welcome no matter what the occasion is.

Home is Where the Heart Is

mypinknotes-moving-boxes.JPGIn one of my interviews, I was once asked if I am having a difficulty moving from one place to another, if I hate it, or if I hope that it ends soon.

You see, I do hate moving and that means packing, transporting and unpacking things. I think I moved from one place to another like more than 10 times in my life. Now that I am married, people I know (like my mom) kind of expect that I am more settled and that I should be raising a family together with my husband already. That means we’re expected to have a kid and to live in a place where we can stay for the rest of our lives.

We are on our way to that place but right now, we are still preparing for it. I do hate moving but I’d do it again  because I  can’t imagine being away from my husband. If the situation asks for it, then we’ll move again together and we’ll build a home to whatever that is.

Fancy a Gerald Genta Watch?

thewatchery.jpgMy husband likes to call me a bag-and-shoes lady and I call him the-watch guy because he is really crazy about watches. He has this fancy box where he displays all his watch collection. Also, every time we pass by a watch store, he simply can’t help to check it out. He also has a collection of watch catalogues pilling up in our living room. That’s how crazy he is with watches. When I was thinking of a gift for him for our first year anniversary, I immediately decided to buy him a genuine titanium Skyhawk A-T Citizen watch. With watches, I can never go wrong. I just have to be careful that what I am giving him is not yet in his collection.

Anyway, if you are thinking of buying a watch for yourself or for somebody, check out TheWatchery.com because they are having a super sale now. Sale discounts are up to 70% off the retail price of some of their items. A Gerald Genta watch for example, can be bought for a price which is 5000$+ off the retail price. Too good to be true? Visit them now and see for yourself. I don’t know if you have a particular liking of Gerald Genta but if not then it is okay because they have other brands too. Hurry now because while they are still on sale!

Travel Plans on Hold

Some friends from Europe are coming to visit us sometime in late January or Early February. I am cool with that but the problem is, they have not decided yet on the exact dates. This keeps our plans to go to the Philippines on hold. If only they’d tell us when they’re coming, I can book our flights to Philippines already.

Like we did last year, we are visiting Philippines again. This time we plan to see Boracay or Davao but first, we have to go up north to visit some beaches where we could hold our planned second wedding. Yep, we are going to get married again but this time, we’ll do it in my lovely home country.

So anyway, I want our travel plans to be finalized because plane tickets and hotel rooms are not getting cheaper.

Healthier Approach to Fight Obesity

A friend of mine and I were talking about weight loss a few weeks ago and she mentioned to me that there are these slimming pills in the market now that works wonders. And I asked her if these are the slimming pills that makes you rush to the toilet every after a few minutes and she said no and that these pills are different. There aren’t immediate side effects she said. These slimming pills suppress your appetite but somehow most people who’ve used it for a long period of time find themselves diagnosed with liver diseases.

This dangerous side effect is not seen immediately of course that is why a lot of people are using it but I wonder why such pills are not band from the market. So anyway, if I were to be in need of an immediate weight loss, I would never give in to such things. I will consider a more effective and safe way like lap-band surgery to lose weight. The risks of getting a lap band are significantly less than the other forms of weight loss and if there should be side effects, the lap-bad can be safely removed or replaced.

Growing Friendship

viennas-friends.JPGIn four week’s time, my German lesson will be over and there will be a long break before the next course will start. I am please that not only my German is improving; my social life seems to be getting better as well. Earlier in my study of German, I was somewhat distant to my classmates because they are all Chinese and they just speak in Chinese so I always sort of felt left-out. Now, it looks like everybody is so eager to use what they’ve learned in the course so the conversations are mostly in German. I can now join the conversation and this paved the way for them to know me better—which is cool because some of them find me interesting.

I am glad that I am going out more often now and that I am developing friendship with people other than the colleagues and friends of my husband. In short, I now have my own circle. I don’t have anything against the colleagues and friends of my husband because most of them are really nice persons too and I am glad that we could spend time with them sometimes but having my own circle of girlfriends with pretty much the same interest as mine is different. I really miss my girlfriends back in Changchun and in the Philippines but I am glad that after 5 months of staying in Shanghai, I am starting to really feel at home here.
