Don’t let the media manipulate your health

Contrary to what we see everywhere, being waif-thin is not healthy. Many would argue that “thin equals beautiful” but that is simply not the case. This popular belief is effortlessly pushed by the media to extremes. It is the media that dictates that we should put much importance on weight and body image and it is the media that says “the thinner you are, the more beautiful you are” but the realistically, a lot of women suffers poor health in their aim to become as thin as they can be.

Women have curves because they’re supposed to have them. If the pharmaceutical companies  that produce weight loss pills and if those designers  create outfits that fit only to child-like figures cannot understand that then shame on them.

You are a woman. It’s completely normal to have curves. Curves are beautiful!

Enough of the “I can’t find a right size that fits me, I have to lose weight!” A dress should fit you and not the other way around. If you can’t find your size, then you are not looking hard enough because there are really good places to get plus size clothes.

Try looking at Plussizefix.com. You’ll see that plus size clothes don’t mean baggy jeans and loose sweatshirts. Their clothing line includes fashionable and smart clothes for ordinary days, casual and special events. And not only that, their items are also affordable.

You are a woman. If you have curves embrace them and flaunt them.

Practicality on Eye Care

A New York Times article published on the 29th of January, 2009 about saving on eye care mentioned ZenniOptical.com as a good place to get the cheapest eyeglasses from. I think Zeni Optical deserves such mention because they really offer the most competitive prices for eyeglasses.

A lot of people say that we should never be stingy when it comes to eye care because we only get a pair eyes for the rest of our lives but spending around $500 or more on eyeglasses or contact lenses a year is just so grand and not all of us can dish out that much. Sometimes people postpone their eyeglasses’ upgrade to their new eye prescription because of the fact that they can’t afford it.

So for those of you who are not so lucky to get a perfect 20/20 vision, you can get your spectacles from Zenni Optical for better prices. The eyeglasses shown in the photo is my personal choice because of its classic design, its availability in different color, and believe it or not, it costs only 8$. That is to better illustrate how cheap specs are from Zenni Optical.

Also you have to know that when you purchase from Zenni Optical, you yourself will be the one to input the specifications of your eyeglasses. So once you get your prescription from your doctor, you can directly set your browsers to ZenniOptical.com and order your eyeglasses there.

Remember it is not about being stingy… it is about being pratical.

Any-Network is a SCAM!

Yes, Any-network is a scam and here is why:

Hello,

I have ordered a V3 sim from you and the details are as follows:

December 1, 2008 = placed and paid my order
Decmeber 4, 2008 = i wrote a ticket and asked why the item is still not shipped.
December 5, 2008 = got a tracking number but whenever i check it, i get a \”null\” result. no info.
December 11, 2008 = the item is still not there and the tracking results are still null.

now i am wondering, did you just gave me a tracking number without actually sending the item? how come, i can’t trace it? how come that whenever i track the package, it gives me a “no info available yet..” ?

please please please answer this ticket. give me an assurance that the item i ordered is on the way.

a lot of forums and blogs are saying that your company is a scam so now i am having doubts but all the delays and your silence are not not helping anybody.

Thanks

Any-Network claims to have sim solution to unlocking the 3G iPhone. I ordered a V3 SIM from them last December when i accidentally upgraded my iphone’s baseband to 2.28.

I wrote them this email on December 11, 2009 and until now I still don’t have the V3 I ordered from them and the bad thing that is they never communicated with me as to why the item is delayed never delivered.

I also sent them an email asking for a refund but until now, I haven’t got any news from them.

So be warned about this company.

Something About the Economic Crisis

Here I am again talking about the recession. I can’t help it because the news about recession is everywhere—on TV, on the internet, in magazines and newspapers! Another reason is because we feel it. We are affected by it.

My husband still has his job but he comes home everyday complaining how much work he he has because their company can’t afford to employ additional staff and he is sad because some of his colleagues are being laid off.

My mom, on the other hand, complains that she’s not getting a lot of job orders anymore. The root of her problem is–a lot of her contractors are closing down. Now she is terrified of losing her business too.

One prominent business man in Europe decided to end his life because his business empire is way down the bend and the government denied his request for financial assistance. He is not connected in any way to me but that news is simply troubling.

Business owners in general are in chaos. They don’t know whether to continue or just close down. Then there are loan sharks who give out loans to struggling business owners putting these poor business men in deeper problems.

If you are a business man, will you take a loan or not?

My take on this is… if you honestly believe that business can generate a positive working capital after availing some sort of business loan then go ahead and get a loan but be careful when choosing where to avail financial assistance. Loan sharks are everywhere in times like these so choose wisely.

Income Report for November, December, and January

Sorry for not being able to update this blog for a long time. I’ve been busy and I am still busy so please excuse this really short entry. I just wanted to give you a short update about what’s up with my blogging and so here it is.

During the first two weeks of November, I tried hard to get as much opps as I can to maximize my earnings but due to poor paying opps and well, no opps at all, I didn’t reach my target. The PR decline of my blogs affected my earnings so much but somehow, I did better in November than in October.

November 2008
Sponsored Articles: 138.42$
Links: 115.94$
Direct Ads : 45.00$
Total: 299.36$

For December, I was honestly expecting to get around 100$ only. The reason to this is because I decided not to write opps so my blogs’ income will only come from link ads. I was busy preparing for my German exam and our holiday to Austria so I didn’t have a lot of time. I didn’t expect much but on the third week, I was able to sell some private ads and that became the main source of my income for the month of December.

December 2008
Sponsored Articles: 0.00$
Links: 94.04$
Direct Ads : 210.00$
Total: 304.04$

I didn’t do any paid blogging for the whole month of January and I also was not able to sell private ads. This is by far my lowest income in my history of blogging. (Not a good start for a new year.)

January 2009
Sponsored Articles: 0.00$

Save on Your Eye Care

I started wearing eyeglasses in my mid 20s and since then, my eyeglass prescription is getting higher every time I visit my ophthalmologist. And because I couldn’t live with just one pair of eyeglasses (hey, my glasses have to match what I wear! *wink), I have to frequently change all of my specs’ glasses to accommodate my new prescription. This is the reason why I spent so much on my eye care but that is now a thing of the past.

zennioptical.jpg

When I read about Zenni Optical in my friend’s blog, I went to check out their website immediately and sure enough, they do have really cheap eyeglasses. They were even featured in the New York Times because they offer the cheapest glasses therefore helping people save a lot of money on their eye care.

The eyeglass in the picture above is from Zenni Optical and believe it or not, it only costs $8.00. I like it because of its classic and simple design and it comes in different colors too.

If you are in the lookout for some stylish prescription glasses, you can easily order them online from ZenniOptical.com. It’s so easy to order! Just browse their collection of glasses and choose the one you want. As for your prescription, they have a form where you can input your prescription yourself making sure that you’ll get the pair of eyeglasses you need. Visit their site now to learn more.

Catching Up on Reading

I finished reading “A Thousand Splendid Suns” before “Memory Keeper’sDaughter” because I find it more interesting than the latter so when Marcus and I went to the Thumb Plaza for lunch a few days ago, I insisted dropping by the bookstore to buy another book.

This morning I picked up one my newest paperbacks and I am surprised to finished “The Color of Purple” in one sitting. This doesn’t mean I have plenty of time…I am still busy but I postponed the things I need to do because the book is just too good to put down.

There are still three Stephen King’s books waiting to be read but I don’t think I’ll be able to read any of these S.K. books as fast as I read “The Color of Purple”.

Spring Break Ideas

My brother in law is thinking of visiting us here in Shanghai for his spring break vacation. He said that instead of going to Tunisia with most of his classmates, he’d rather spend his vacation here in Shanghai because he has been to Tunisia several times.

I don’t have anything against my brother-in-law coming to stay with us for a week but I don’t understand these travel agencies in Europe that offer the same destinations for spring break vacations. I am sure that there are interesting places other than Tunisia and Turkey for students to spend their spring break in. Why can’t these agencies just go online and look for some other places because there are a lot of websites that offer resources for spring break ideas.

Xtremetrips.com is a very good example of an online resource about the best places where students can spend their spring break in. This website also offers some great deals that are surely affordable for students.
