my lips’ bestfriend

I am not a fond of applying makeup. I do so sometimes when I have to attend formal gatherings like weddings and formal dinners but on a regular day, I can go without makeup… not even a powder. I feel more comfortable like that.
But the cold months have set in and this gives me a bit of a problem. See, I have full-size lips and they really hate cold temperatures. They get all dry and cracked up if I don’t coat them with lip balm and it’s really painful when they do that.
When I was a little girl, I hated my lips. I always envied those who have thin and cute lips—the kind of lips considered as beautiful in my part of the world. Here, women go as far as pumping up their lips with collagen to make them look full and pouty.
I suppose, I eventually came to terms with my lips. The fact that they’re big doesn’t bother me anymore but I hate it when they get chapped. So I have stacked up a bunch of lip balm for the cold months and deployed them everywhere—in purses, in pockets, in every room of our flat, in our cars, on tables, in drawers—to make sure that I have one within my reach because during the cold months, I can’t last an hour without applying lip balm.

It’s lipbalm time again. I never leave home without it now. It’s my best weapon to keep my lips moist and keep them from chapping.
