sense of style

It’s been a while since I started contemplating on what direction I should steer this blog to.  I picked up niches for my other blogs and I want to do the same for this blog.

Once I toyed with the idea of making this to a personal style blog, because I am really inspired by my two favorite personal style bloggers, whatiwore.tumblr.com and kendieveryday.blogspot.com. I know I can’t be famous like them (even too shy to link up to them), but it would be nice to have a blog where I can also showcase my sense of fashion.

BUT.

Who am I kidding? I am not a fashionista. I am a wash-and-wear-kind-of-girl. I think that if I would be working in the fashion world, I would be one of those working in the background. Like the one who holds the camera reflectors in a photo shoot. LOL. But seriously though, there is also a girly part of me that wishes that I had some sort of “style” to showcase.

OR.

Maybe I just want to have a personal style blog not because I want to express my sense of fashion but because I am passionate about blogging and if could write about every niche, I would. LOL. Personal style is a very nice niche, if only my friend, Lamielle, lives nearby, I’d team up with her because she’s always dress to kill. She’ll be the model and I’ll be the photographer—not a bad idea since I also like photography.  That would be cool!!!

I am just thinking out loud. I like fashion and I do wish I could put a bit more enthusiam in dressing myself up BUT most of the time, I just can’t see the point. They say fashion is about looking great in clothes while feeling good. Well, I feel good in jeans and tees. Whether I look great or not is a question. LOL.

Anyway, the bottom line is; I am a girl, so I do like to dress up sometimes. And if today will be a dress up day for me, I’d wear something like this:

www.msmyla.polyvore.com

Cute polka dot red dress and black sophisticated pumps. Red lipstick to make my full lips stand out and turquoise purse and accessories! Lovin’ turquoise right now…like.. it can go with just about any color.

Someday, I’ll start a personal style blog. Right now, My Pink Notes will have to stay like it is—a blog about my thoughts on things.

something pleasant for this blog

As I mentioned in my other blog, I want to give all of my blogs a redesign. I actually already started with Vien’s Pot and now that I am done with that, I want to move on to this blog. So today, I loaded it on my web browser to see where I can improve it. I thought the current theme really looks boring, so I decided to give it a complete new look. But before I closed my browser to work on photoshop, I noticed that my google toolbar is displaying a pagerank of 2 for this blog.

Now, I am confused. In one of my recent posts, I was complaining that this blog remains a PR 0 blog. That was just a few days ago. To my surprise today, I see that my google toolbar is showing a PR2 every time I load this blog. I loaded this blog several times just to make sure that it does not need a refresh. I also checked some pagerank checking sites if it’s true and it is! Does that mean, google is once again updating? But Google just updated two months ago.

Weird. But anyway, it’s great! Now, I don’t have to delete this blog. LOL.

And it’s cool, I can use this blog for something. If only I can get some sponsored posts that are paying at least 4$, it would be really perfect. LOL. A redesign is something pleasant to give to this blog but a PR is definitely more pleasant.

a day in the life of an internet addict

Out WIFI’s signal is not working upstairs today and that sucks big time because it just stop working from one day to another. That makes it difficult to troubleshoot because I don’t know where to start fixing it. We didn’t change anything.

The WLAN router is downstairs which means, I have to stay downstairs if I want to connect to our WIFI. Right now, my baby is asleep in his room and I don’t like to leave his side because he is not really feeling very well. He has a tummyache and I have to help him to let some air out every now and then.

Now I am forced to use my internet dongle (USB stick). That also sucks because it’s a prepaid internet connection and it is a bit expensive to use it. I just use it when I have to go somewhere. This is just to make sure that I can always connect to the internet wherever I am (not at home).

I called my husband to tell him about it and he told me that this is not really a problem. If I want to use the internet, I should just do down or use my internet dongle. Other people have real problems and I should be ashamed of myself for calling this a problem. LOL. He is right.

the future of this blog

Many things changed since the last time I post an entry here but one thing remains the same and that is the fact that this blog still has a PR 0. It’s unfortunate, really, because this is the blog I want to use for my product reviews. I wonder if this will ever get a PR because if it wont, I will have to give up this blog.

Before I do anything so drastic, I will give a chance to this blog. Another round of PR update and if this blog stays 0 then, I’ll say goodbye to it. For the meantime, I should seriously consider posting more entries here and asking other bloggers to exchange link with this blog. But I am not sure if there are eager bloggers who wants to ex-links with a PR 0 blog. I will have to ask around (but before that, I’ll have to put the kapalmoks on).

why i don’t connect my blogs to my FB account

I am supposed to be working on a blog design but since inspirations are not coming in yet, I decided to spend my time writing some posts.

Now, I would like to write about people reading my blogs. It’s kind of weird how contradictory my feelings are on this topic. You see, I don’t mind being read at all even if I know that my post can get really personal and crappy sometimes. When I started blogging, I already accepted the fact that my blogs will be open books to all sorts of people to read. I know that and I am cool with that but somehow, the idea that people I know personally are reading my blogs kind of gives me a hesitant feeling.

Is it just me or does any of you share this very same feeling?

I mean, I don’t mind if my husband, mother, sisters, close family and friends read my blogs but there are just some people who I’d rather not show my blogs to. Like a former classmate, a former colleague, a former neighbor, my husband’s friends and colleagues, or some random acquaintances who I met once or twice in my life. People who I think do not have to be updated about my life. That is why I am very hesitant to link my blogs and twitter account on Facebook. It kind of sucks because I think, I might get some hits if I connect my blogs to my FB account. If only I could tell the people on my FB list that my blogs are off limits to some of them, that would be great (LOL).

Like DMP. I created a FaceBook page for DMP but I don’t like to let all the people know in FB that I started something like that. Weird huh?

I guess, this feeling has something to do about the thing they say: it’s much easier to open up to a complete stranger. For me, it’s easy to open up to people who are very close to me and yes, to complete strangers BUT when it comes to those people who are in between (not so close and are not really strangers), I hesitate.

turtle speed internet connection

I do have an unlimited internet plan. Here in Austria, you can get a decent internet plan for 15Euros/month. According to the latest currency conversion, that’s about 926PHP. Pretty cheap compared to the expensive but oh so slow internet connection back home in the Philippines. I use a USB dongle that I can connect to our WLAN when I’m at home and when I go out, I simply take the USB dongle with me, so I can have internet access anywhere.

So anyway, with the internet plan I have now, I can surf with the speed of 128Kbits. That is fast and I am quite contented with it. The only small imperfection with this plan is: once I reached 15GB, it slows down to 20-50Kbits (that’s still fast compared to SmartBro’s speed during peak hours, i think). I can still surf “unlimitedly” but with a slower speed.

I rarely reach my 15GB/month internet data volume limit so it rarely bothers me that I have a limit. But last week, I was watching a lot of CNN news online about Japan and Libya that I used up all my internet data volume. I know that I have a limit but I was not able to help myself from watching last weeks’ news.

To cut the story short, I now have a slow internet connection and I really can’t work with this kind of connection. It slows me down and it irritates me.

I am glad that our 2-years contract with this internet provider is going to end next month. We are switching to a High-Speed Fiber Power internet cable. It will be a bit more expensive but it will be truly unlimited. No internet data volume limit, and the speed can reach up to 100MBPS. With this connection, it will be possible to watch TV online and stream movies and music. My husband thought that since we now have a permanent place, we can get a fixed internet connection. Cool. BUT, I already see a problem with this type of internet connection—I can’t take it with me. :(

It’s really too bad that we can’t have an internet plan that has it all. Of course I can get another plan but two internet plans will be too costly.

And since surfing is just too frustrating this time, I decided to spend the morning playing with Photoshop. Noticed the new banner? I think it is much better than the old one.

focusing on my blogs

I think I have the right to call myself busy once again. Not the kind-of-busy I was last year because I still somehow manage to squeeze in a lengthy afternoon nap in my daily routines, but the kind in which I have a handful of tasks waiting to be done. But I promised myself that no matter how much work comes pouring in, I will try my best to update, enhance, and build up my blogs, so here I am again.

To update, I’ll write entries at least once a week in each blog and that’ll mean that I also have to write an entry even if I am not getting any compensation for it. To enhance, I will tweak my theme to personalize it a bit and I will upload photos along with my entries. If you haven’t noticed, I’ve been doing that already. I thought, I have a lot of pictures in my HD—looking at them every now and then sparks ideas for blog entries, why not post some of them too.

Mr. Google, please please please...

To build up my blogs, I want to exchange links with any blogger who’s running similar blog/s to mine. This, I have to say, would have to wait a bit because at the moment, I have not time and second, I still have to improve my blogs so that when other bloggers come, they’ll see a blog they would like to exchange links with.

At the moment, I can forget about earning money from my blogs, but I hope that in a few months, that will change. For money, I have to rely on the writing gigs I get from Odesk, which is not much but should suffice for now.
