When it comes to knowledge about the latest gadgets, I consider myself advance compared to a regular housewife. I don’t have to have the best of the new electronics but I want to have a decent kind of (some of) each—a decent smartphone, a decent laptop, a decent tablet, etc. And I don’t buy these things just to “have” them. I really use them and I use them in a way that they become something really beneficial for me to have. For example, I use my laptop for work related stuff. My iPad has apps for recipes, children books, emags, ebooks, newspapers, my blog subscriptions, my notes, organizer, etc. I use my phone not just for calling but also for checking my emails when I am on the go, as navigation, as camera, etc. I can’t name all the uses but believe me when I say I did not waste my money on them. I didn’t buy them just to have something to flaunt.

Being a bit of a gadget freak means I am always connected to the Internet. It’s my main library, my resource for all the information I need. I consider myself “wired” to it and I read the so called “news of the wired” to learn and track the latest gadgetry on the market. I don’t have to have the latest but it is always good to learn about new technologies.

Out WIFI’s signal is not working upstairs today and that sucks big time because it just stop working from one day to another. That makes it difficult to troubleshoot because I don’t know where to start fixing it. We didn’t change anything.

The WLAN router is downstairs which means, I have to stay downstairs if I want to connect to our WIFI. Right now, my baby is asleep in his room and I don’t like to leave his side because he is not really feeling very well. He has a tummyache and I have to help him to let some air out every now and then.

Now I am forced to use my internet dongle (USB stick). That also sucks because it’s a prepaid internet connection and it is a bit expensive to use it. I just use it when I have to go somewhere. This is just to make sure that I can always connect to the internet wherever I am (not at home).

I called my husband to tell him about it and he told me that this is not really a problem. If I want to use the internet, I should just do down or use my internet dongle. Other people have real problems and I should be ashamed of myself for calling this a problem. LOL. He is right.

Finally, I am on summer break.

That was a year of hard work and I am glad I got through it. There were times when I thought… I should just quit and be a bum but every time I get those ideas, I also find the courage to continue. Work life here in Europe is stressful. Everybody demands something from you and you just have to fulfill all these demands.

So I am thinking of rewarding myself for a job well done. First, I thought of buying an ipod touch 32G but hubby already has one and I am free to use it anytime I want. We don’t need two ipods in this house. And on the other hand, my iphone can do all the things an ipod can do so an ipod is completely unnecessary.

A Macbook Pro would be a really good reward but it is quite expensive too and I am not sure if I really want to spend my hard earned money on such luxury. My reasonable side is telling me that I don’t have to spend that much on a new computer but my diabolic side is telling me to go on with it since it looks like I will have to go through another year of hard work again.

MacBook Pro or no MacBook Pro, I hope that I still have enough patience to do the same job for at least another year.

It is a sad reality that there are some people who miss out a lot of some simple pleasures in life because of their inability to move around with ease. This is true specially to a lot of older people. If you know somebody who is in this particular situation, why not recommend a wheelchair or, better yet, a mobility scooter. A mobility scooter will help people to be less dependent.

There are a lot of good scooter stores online and one is TheScooterStore.com. This store offers their expertise and anybody may contact them anytime to have a free mobility consultation. They work with medical professionals and are able to prescribe just the right scooter for someone’s mobility needs.

Life goes on so don’t limit the things you can do.

If you are having some problems with your computer and it’s not about a virus or a registry error, it may be because some of your drivers are old and they need to be updated. If you don’t know how to update drivers, you are not alone. Many computer users are clueless when it comes to what lies beneath the functioning hardware parts of a computer. If you are one of these people, don’t worry, it is easy to learn how to install and update hardware drivers.

First, it is important to know what a driver is. A driver is a file that controls an internal or external device such as webcam, printer, LAN card, DVD ROM, and others. Windows (or other OS system) uses these drivers to communicate with the different hardware attached to it.

Most of the time, Windows can detect if there is a new hardware connected to it and will automatically install it but there are sometimes you need to install the drivers manually and there’s also a Windows’ wizard to help you do that easily.

Sometimes a particular hardware needs to update its driver for newer version and added functionality. You can search the net for the manufacturer of the hardware, download the driver from them, and install it manually but if you would like to skip the hassles of doing all those things, you can do it automatically with some help from software such as DriverScanner. Uniblue, the makers of DriverScanner, offers a free scan to you help you track which hardware need driver updates and for only 29.95$, you’ll be able to register it and use all features and automatically download latest drivers.

I don’t know exactly how it happened but my computer experienced a sudden slow down sometime last week. At first, I thought it was a virus but my antivirus software is not detecting anything. Then I thought I should empty my temporary internet files because I was told that a full temp folder could also cause slow down so I emptied it but still, I can’t see any improvement.

I tried to read forums about how to fix it but honestly, I got more confused so after trying some advised software tools that didn’t work, I decided to just reformat my computer. That was a lot of work. I have to install everything again but I am quite pleased now because I am sure that my computer’s system is clean.

My husband told me I could have also just run Windows Registry Cleaner because errors in the registry are major cause of system slow down. It happens and it cannot be avoided especially if you install and uninstall software frequently. If you are experiencing the same thing, don’t give up just yet (like I did). Try scanning your registry first. There are a lot of registry scanner software and LiUtilities.com is good place to download a free one. Scanning your registry could save you from going all the troubles of reformatting.
