I had my gynecologist appointment today. I should have had may check up six weeks after the birth of my son but my gynecologist was on holiday. I didn’t want to see another gynecologist so I waited this long for an appointment.

Among other things, this check-up is to let me know if all the organs in my pelvic area returned to where they’re supposed to be. This is very important since childbirth can cause urine control problems and some other more serious problems such as inability to orgasm and POP or pelvic organ prolapse. I am not really concern about the inability to orgasm because it can be remedied by pilates and kegel exercises but POP is something I really consider serious.

Women who get POP have to a get vaginal mesh implant to slow down or to prevent the womb from falling into the vagina. But the problem does not end after getting a vaginal mesh implant because vaginal mesh implants are known to cause many negative side effects such as urinary problems, pain during intercourse, perforations within the bladder, organ injuries, and infections. The mesh can also erode in the vagina causing a much bigger problem. Many who went through a vaginal mesh implant find themselves filing vaginal mesh lawsuits because they are experiencing one or more of the side effects.

I don’t want to go through all that so I went through this check-up even though I am feeling all okay down there. Prevention is always better than cure and I strongly believe in that.

I am pregnant and I am already in that time of pregnancy where I think buying preggy clothes is just a waste of money because I won’t be able to use them after a few weeks.

Funny, when I learned that I am pregnant, I though I don’t have to rush about buying preggy clothes because I still can very well fit to my regular clothes and then, when I can finally fit in preggy clothes, I feel it’s not practical to buy them anymore because…well, what will I do with them after a month or two? I bought some of course but I will definitely not buy more. I am just a couple of weeks or so from my due date so buying preggy clothes now is not anymore an option.

But the problem is, I find it more and more difficult to find clothes from my closet that will fit nicely on me. Not only that! All my shoes seem to be smaller too. Blame it on the ability of my body to retain water. It’s incredible! I can’t wear most of my shoes anymore! And the irony of it all, the shoes I can still wear are those that are not really comfortable for a pregnant woman—shoes with heels! So last week, my hubby and I got these for me.

simple and comfortable flats

simple and comfortable flats

black puma ballerina-style shoes

black puma ballerina-style shoes

They’re nothing special but they will definitely serve their purpose. I can wear them with just about anything—shorts, pants, casual dresses, leggings and preggy tops. They are flat and comfortable too! Their sizes are of course a bit bigger than my regular shoe size but I think I will still be able to wear them after all the water from my feet drained out.

Before I start, I must warn any possible reader that this entry will be just one of the usual rants I have to write down because I need an entry. That means, I badly need to update this blog because the last time I updated this blog was a week ago and I promised myself to update this blog at least once a week.

So anyway, the very thought that’s on my mind right now are the chocolates I got from family and friends for Easter. You see, my gynecologist said that I should watch the sweets I eat because my baby is 2 weeks bigger than he’s supposed to be. If my baby continues to grow more than what is expected, I might have to do the glucose test again and I don’t want that. I don’t want to spend three hours in my doctor’s clinic so he can stick a needle in me every hour to check if my body is able to process sugar. It’s not the most comfortable feeling so I would like to avoid that but how? I have loads of chocolates and every single one is calling my name.

Where’s the joy of having really good chocolates when you can’t eat them?

I am going to slow down from here on and that’s a very good change from living a busy and stressful life in the last four months. I quit my job and that means I have plenty of time for other things that I put aside for a long time. My blogging for example suffered a lot and this is where I am going to start.

I will also have more time on our home. Decorating and beautifying it is something I didn’t give importance to in these last months. It was sort of enough for me to vacuum clean it twice each week and so some petty chores to keep it clean and orderly.

After that, I will look for other ways to replenish my energy. I have been really pushing myself in the last months. Studying and working at the same time took its toll on me so this time I will treat myself really nice. Perhaps a day or two at a nearby thermal bath would do it. Or perhaps a small trip somewhere-hmmm, i like this idea so I should probably look for some sort of holidays europe offers. It’s just important that it’s affordable though. I mean, being jobless now and so, I should also keep in mind that I can’t just spend money like I used to.

Anyway, I am really happy I can do other things now that I am done with work and my German courses.

It’s really getting hotter and hotter each day and people here have their own ways to beat the summer heat. Many houses here have lavish gardens where the owners spend time in if they cannot go somewhere because they probably have no time or they’re too tired from work. In our case, we have a small garden but it is still pretty bare right now. We still don’t have a fence and sun shades hence; there’s no privacy. And since we agreed to finish all the things needed to be done inside the house, our garden has to wait until next summer. Right now, it would really be weird to lie in our garden in my bikini while our neighbors are permitted a full view.

So my husband and I visit a nearby lake almost every day. It’s just less than 10 minutes away so it’s very convenient for us to go there. On some days, there’s just a small crowd but there are also days when it’s packed with bathers and sunbathers. There’s also not a lot of privacy there but it’s different when you’re not the only one wearing a bikini because people don’t really stop and stare.

Other than spending afternoons by the lake, we also meet friends and have barbecue parties with them. Next Tuesday, we are invited to another dinner party where guests are supposed to bring some food to share. I’m not yet sure what to bring but I am thinking about bringing some homemade Philippine desserts. Maybe some rice cakes? Not sure yet. I am already excited because it sounds to me like it’s going to be a Luau party. I haven’t been to one and if one of our friends is going to have one, we definitely want to receive luau invitations . It should be fun.

I am really enjoying this time of the year.

I’ve been bothered by recurring headaches lately. At first I thought it is because of stress and the changing weather but I realized that it is because of my eyes. Looks like I need a new eyeglass prescription. I think I need a new pair of eyeglasses again. The contact lenses I bought for 204 Euro can be thrown away too. My gosh! It’s really expensive to have a pair of bad eyes.

Good thing though, Zenni Optical offers really cheap BUT quality eyeglasses. You could buy a pair for 8$. Yes, 8$! The glasses I am wearing now cost me around 370 Euro and because I paid that much, I continuously use the frame even if I am not really contented with it anymore. Whenever I get new a prescription, I just get the glasses changed to fit my new prescription.

With the price and the quality of the eyeglasses they offer at Zenni Optical, I am not surprise that there are a lot of satisfied customers. An honest review on Zenni Optical published in TheExaminer.com details one happy customer’s experience with Zenni Optical. Of course, the review also points out not just the pros of buying a pair of glasses at Zenni Optical but also the cons so if you’re thinking of buying a pair of glasses at Zenni’s, this article might be interesting for you.

If you care about your eyes and your pocket, Zenni Optical is the place for you.

I went to see my eye doctor the other to have my yearly check-up. Here in Europe, I get to visit my dentist, my ophthalmologist, our family doctor, and my gynecologist without worrying about spending €€€€€€€. We get the basic and necessary health care for free…err, well… not actually free. We are paying an obligatory monthly health insurance premium. I like their health care system and we have something similar back home (Phil-health) but not once did I ever benefit from it.

So, going back to my eyes… I wanted to get myself a pair of new contact lenses because I don’t think the old ones (dailies) I bought in Shanghai still correspond to my eye prescription. I want to use contact lenses at work because my eyeglasses often get in the way. We do a lot of singing, dancing, jumping, running around, and rolling over in the classroom and I don’t like to be bothered by the feeling that my eyeglasses will fall off.

After going through all the necessary procedure, I got my new eye prescription and I am so disappointed to learn that my eyes are really deteriorating very fast. I asked my ophthalmologist if I would be a suitable candidate for laser eye surgery and he told me that they only accept patients whose eye prescriptions are constant. Mine varies every few months.

This is a clear sign of aging.

We moved in to our new flat three weeks ago and we are slowly settling things down. Our flat, although not 100% furnished yet, has all the basics already. I go out almost every day to get to know the city and I must admit that I really like Graz and the fact that we live in the city center where every important establishment is just a few minutes’ walk from our place.

Living in the city means one has to have a certain level of precautions when going out and also when at home. In our case, we chose a flat that is not only convenient but also safe so like many other flats in this city, our flat too has one of those sophisticated home alarm systems. Our flat is in a building that is century-old but has an alarm system that is of modern and state-of-the-art technology.

I think it is important that a home security system is to be considered as one of the necessities especially when you are living in a city or in a crowded area.

Mothers’ Day is fast approaching and my husband and I decided to do the usual—send flowers and cards. I know that is soooo uncreative but we have a lot of things to think about at the moment and I am sure that my mom, my mother-in-law, and my two sisters will understand.

For those of you who are looking for better gift ideas for parents this coming occasion, get some from EDivvy.com. They have quite a lot of choices of unique products perfect for a Mothers Day gift. And the good thing about this website is that you can divvy up the cost of an item with other people. You don’t have to pay the complete price alone. This is an ideal arrangement for siblings who want to give the one perfect gift to their mom and contribute for it.

I checked the website carefully and I noticed that their items are not just good for Mothers Day gifts but also good for other occasions and they have such a huge collection so you’ll certainly find the right gift for a particular person. Given that this website offers gifts for all occasion and for everybody, is not only helpful to siblings who wants to give a single gift this Mothers Day but also to friends, workmates, neighbors, and schoolmates who want to contribute for a gift for other events.

After almost two years of being married we are naturally bombarded with questions such as

“When is the baby coming?”

“Are you already expecting?”

“No? So when do you plan do you plan on having a baby?”

“Sorry but do you have fertility problems?”

“Don’t you ever like to have babies?”

I always answer these questions politely although sometimes they are kind annoying especially when they come from people who are obviously nosey.

Thing is, we are not yet pregnant because we want to stay that way for the time being. That is to say—we are carefully planning and preparing for it but we are also open to surprises. We will always welcome pregnancy whether it happens now or later like we plan. And when it does, it will certainly be great time for me and my husband. It will be my first time and I am quite happy to know that I have loving a loving husband, parents and in-laws who will support me through the process and will help me and give me tips about pregnancy and about raising a child. And if that is not enough, there are websites created to help expectant parents. Websites such as ParentsConnect.com answers and discusses questions that may arise before or during pregnancy. They have expert advices column that offers pregnancy guidance and support from professionals and there is also a forum where parents can simply share about their pregnancy issues and help others with theirs. This website has the answers to various questions about pregnancy and other things connected to being pregnant.

Such websites are truly helpful to parents who are experiencing a wonderful and special time.
