happy holidays y’all!

I know that it is too late to send out my greetings through my blogs but I think that I gave out greetings to most of you through Friendster, Facebook, YM, and chikka already.

So anyway, here’s a quick update about my holiday.

We spent our Christmas at my in-laws. I’ve got some really interesting gifts and my favorite is one of the gifts I got from hubby: The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. I also got the Hobbit from him and so the next few weeks will be spent reading these books.

The days between Christmas and New Year were spent visiting friends and relatives and of course, shopping. There are just too many post-Christmas sales happening around so it’s really a good time to shop.  I’ve already spent most of the Christmas money I received.

Countless hours were also spent telephoning with my friends and family back in the Philippines but of course, it is not the same. I truly miss all of them and I hope to see them all soon.

I will be going back to work on the 7th of January. I will be going through a minor operation before that and I hope that I have time to heal before I go back to work.

So that’s pretty much it.

By the way, while writing this entry, I notice that Google PR has updated again and this blog still remains PR 0.

A day in Hongkong

In our years of stay in China, we always wanted to visit Hongkong mainly because we’ve been in other major cities of China except for this particular city. So when we learned that we only have a few months left to stay in China, we grabbed the chance to visit HK.

Travel Plans on Hold

Some friends from Europe are coming to visit us sometime in late January or Early February. I am cool with that but the problem is, they have not decided yet on the exact dates. This keeps our plans to go to the Philippines on hold. If only they’d tell us when they’re coming, I can book our flights to Philippines already.

Like we did last year, we are visiting Philippines again. This time we plan to see Boracay or Davao but first, we have to go up north to visit some beaches where we could hold our planned second wedding. Yep, we are going to get married again but this time, we’ll do it in my lovely home country.

So anyway, I want our travel plans to be finalized because plane tickets and hotel rooms are not getting cheaper.

Early Christmas

shanghai-christmasChristmas is always early in the Philippines. At the onset of the “ber” months; i.e. September, October, November, and December, people already decorate their homes with Christmas decors. So when I’ve seen that some of the establishments here in Shanghai are already decorated, I was not surprised.

You see in Philippines, we only get to decorate our homes to give it a feel of the season during Christmas. Unlike in the US of A, we don’t decorate our home for Halloween or for other holidays. We only get to do it once a year so we put the decorations up as early as possible and let them stay there as long as possible. I often hear people say that the longest Christmas season happens in the Philippines and I completely agree with that.

Vacation Boo-boos

tunnelWhat’s special about vacation? We always look forward to it. We always anticipate good things about it. We always plan ahead for it. And what’s not so special about vacation? We sometimes get disappointed about it. We sometimes fall short of our expectation of it. We sometimes wished we never done it. Oh well, the weekend vacation we had in Canada fell on both categories… special and otherwise. But for whatever it’s worth, we did have the time we need for each other. And that, is the most important part of it.

Busy Buddy

I consider myself busy these last few days although I still managed to watch two movies yesterday. Yep, “the Pianist” and “Kolya”. Both are very touching movies specially “Kolya”, I cried over “Kolya” although I didn’t cried as much as when I watched “the Kite Runner”, because “Kolya” have some comedy in it so it sort of balances the mood but with “the Kite Runner”—it is sad through and through! A real tearjerker and it gave me a very sad feeling for days!

I should properly write my thoughts on these movies in my thetwogeeks.com blog but I am too busy. Packing is taking so much of my time. We are leaving Changchun next Wednesday and we are heading to Austria. Not to live there but just for vacation. We will probably stay there for 3 weeks or more then after that, it will be Shanghai! Finally I can say for sure that we will stay in Shanghai for 2 years and I am excited about the things I could do in this time. I want to study and do blogging part time or I can start something with Anne who will move to Shanghai as well with her boyfriend, Daniel.

So, we will see what the next few months will bring.

The Nest in Beijing

Yep, that’s the Nest. This is where the (Beijing) Olympics 2008 is supposed to be held  but until now it’s still under construction. I wonder if they could finish it before then. Unfortunately, no tourists are allowed to enter the vicinity yet so we can’t take a peep inside the building but from the outside, it looks like the building is completely done; I guess it’s just the surrounding area they have to beautify—put some green grass and some trees perhaps.

As promised, some pictures from our trip in Beijing last weekend are finally posted but unfortunately, I didn’t post them here. They’re in my other blog. If you want to see the pictures, you may click here.
