Based on Your Birthday …

I got this from Facebook;

You are very capable. If you are a woman, you have high chance to be a renowned workingwoman. If you are a man, your path to fame and honor is near. As an innovator, you are not a good follower. You are good in implementing your imagination and share it with others. You are always well dressed. Your Love, You often lose your love ones from being too jealous. You always feel like you own the person you fall in love with and that often blows your relationship.

Sentementalist

mytakeonthings-dried-flowers.JPGI am a very sentimental person and I know that this is the trait that stops me from throwing away things. I do keep old tickets and old candy wrappers if they mean something to me. Once, my mom told me that I am like a witch with all the unnecessary stuff in my bedroom.

The bouquets in the picture, for example, show how I can’t seem to let go of things. They are dry and…well, they don’t look nice anymore but I refused to throw them away. I got these from my husband and each bouquet reminds me of an important occasion but then there was a time when we needed to move out of our flat. That means I needed to throw away some things. My husband told me that I would be crazy if I would bring these old bouquets and yeah, I also realized that it is just so impractical to pack them and bring them with us. So I left them there in my old office room but not without, keeping some of their dried petals in a small box. I have this small box with me now and along with it are my other collections of small memories.

Box of Chocolates

gertrudehawkchocolates.jpegMy birthday is still three weeks away but I already got my birthday gift and I am really loving it. Although my husband told me that that should be it and that I should not expect more on my birthday, I just know that he will still do something special for me on that particular day. I don’t know yet what he’ll do but I am sure that I’ll receive a bouquet from him plus a small sweet gift like a teddy bear or a box of chocolates. Though these gifts are very common, I always appreciate them more than the expensive ones.

I think that chocolate gifts and flowers always melt the hearts of women who receive them. A man can never go wrong about giving a woman flowers and chocolates because these are always welcome no matter what the occasion is.

Healthier Approach to Fight Obesity

A friend of mine and I were talking about weight loss a few weeks ago and she mentioned to me that there are these slimming pills in the market now that works wonders. And I asked her if these are the slimming pills that makes you rush to the toilet every after a few minutes and she said no and that these pills are different. There aren’t immediate side effects she said. These slimming pills suppress your appetite but somehow most people who’ve used it for a long period of time find themselves diagnosed with liver diseases.

This dangerous side effect is not seen immediately of course that is why a lot of people are using it but I wonder why such pills are not band from the market. So anyway, if I were to be in need of an immediate weight loss, I would never give in to such things. I will consider a more effective and safe way like lap-band surgery to lose weight. The risks of getting a lap band are significantly less than the other forms of weight loss and if there should be side effects, the lap-bad can be safely removed or replaced.

Lesson Learned

I was introduced to two Irish women, Emily and Tina, last week and we instantly warmed up to each other. They are sisters and Emily is the girlfriend of Marcus’ friend and colleague, Henry. Henry is British so Tina kept teasing them about how it’s a miracle that they can stay together because Irish and Brits hate each other too much.

flag_of_ireland.jpgTina is like a bird. She can’t stop to tweet and she got this really high pitched voice that can be irritating to hear but I like listening to her because she has a really good sense of humor. So anyway, while we were having our break from shopping, I asked why Emily said something like “I work in UK and I live in Dublin”. Isn’t Dublin a part of UK? Isn’t Ireland a part of UK?

And then Tina, said …. “Oh no,no, no. Vienna, if you have to learn one thing, learn this. Ireland is its own country. Forget everything else but that.” And she said that in a really funny way with all the face and eye expressions. And she kept on and on about how the Brits took a big portion of their land, copied their culture and their language, killed a lot of their leaders, etc.

It was an interesting day with them. I had fun and I learned some things. I do hope I can spend more time with them but they are flying back to Ireland in a few days. They did invite us to visit them in Ireland and I think it would be cool if we can go there someday because Ireland is definitely an interesting place to see.

My Perfect Size

When we came here last June, I was like size “6” because of the overeating we did in Austria. It took me almost four months to get back in shape and it was difficult. When I did some shopping last Monday for the Austrian Party, I was relieved to learn that I can fit into size “4” dresses again! And it is not like I am forcing the clothes to zip up. It was really easy for me to fit in them.

I lost weight. From 55 kilos, I am now only 52 kilos. That is 3 kilos in less than 4 months. How did that happen? Well, I don’t go to the gym and I still sit in front of my computer most of the time when I am at home. I do go out every day for my class so there’s a little bit movement activity there but I don’t think that that did it.

I think it is because I don’t eat that often. I don’t eat breakfast and lunch because I am too lazy to prepare something to eat but I do eat a sandwich during our break in the afternoon then I also eat a small dinner.

I was initially size 0 then within a year and a half, I became size 6. For me, size 0 is unhealthy, size 2 is too thin, and size 4 is perfect so went I went over size 4 I panicked. I needed to do something immediately. Now that I am size 4, I am quite pleased.

I Am that Kind of Shopper.

I didn’t attend my German class yesterday. The reason to this is because I needed to shop for a dress for the Austrian National Day Party which was held yesterday evening. Initially, we agreed to go there in our traditional Austrian clothes but Marcus dress.JPGchanged his mind. So yesterday afternoon, I was checking a lot stores one after the other hoping to find a dress. It was not fun! In fact, it was a total stress! I cannot do shopping when I am constantly receiving calls from Marcus asking me if I already found a dress or not! Gosh!

The party was hosted by the Austrian Embassy and I will tell you all about the evening next time. Right now, I want to talk about yesterday afternoon.

So yeah, I hated the fact that I am given such short time to shop. I do have other clothes for evenings like this but they’re all in Austria so it was like…. I find a dress or Marcus and I won’t go to the party and the second option is a no no because Marcus is dying to be there to mingle with his fellow Austrians.

You see when I buy something; I make sure that after I bought it, use it, wash it, I still view “it” as pretty. And I can use “it” again in other occasion. So I need time when shopping especially if I also have to find other things like shoes and accessories to go with “it”. Plus I also try to find something that I think my husband will like specially if he is paying for it.

Avoiding Eyeglasses

I got an eye check up just a few weeks ago in Austria. I did it there because I was a little bit doubtful about the results of my eye check-ups here. When I got a different eyeglass prescription last August from that of last June, I thought… hey, there must be some mistake—my eyes can’t go that bad in a month.

vienna-in-glasses.JPGSo when I had the chance to see an eye doctor in Austria, I had my eyes checked and guess what. I got a stronger eyeglass prescription! Wow, my eyes are deteriorating really fast. I tried to find out why by reading articles in the internet about it and I learned somewhere that in some cases glasses and contact lenses are not the best for the eyes. People who stay too long in front of computers (like me) find their visions getting blur but that is because the eyes get tired and the mistake these people do is to immediately wear glasses (that’s what I did) and this is wrong. I’ve learned that eyeglasses make the eyes lazy. The eyes become dependent on the glasses. They no longer have to  work hard to do what they do—focus.

So now, I am trying NOT to use my glasses when it’s not really necessary like when I go out during daytime. Everything is blurred but it’s not like I am blind. I also stop wearing glasses when I work on my computer and I try hard to maintain a good distance between my screen and my face. I also try to look away from my computer every now and then. This helps relieve eye stress (according to what I’ve read).

It’s just a week since I started this and I don’t know if it will work but I am willing to do anything to get a better vision because I do hate wearing glasses and contact lenses.
