There’s something I noticed about myself since we bought the house.

I noticed that I am in constant search for ways to earn money. As in, “constant”. Like, I am always thinking about it. It’s not like I need the money urgently but there are so many things I want to buy for the house. Like a nice jar, an elegant lamp, decorative plants, etc.

So lately, I’ve been looking out for ways to earn money from writing and I am now looking at ODESK. I’ve been reading a lot of success stories about how people started with it and I am quite impressed. It is nothing like paid posting anymore because you don’t need a blog to join ODESK. You write articles and submit them to your clients. That’s it. You don’t have to post sponsored entries in your blog. That is like real freelancing.

I want to accept jobs and apply for jobs in ODESK but I am afraid I can’t cope with the deadlines. My day job and the new house are very demanding. I am not sure if I can squeeze in freelance writing and researching. But I will keep ODESK as an option. Maybe later, I will dip my toes deeper into it.

The “Wiener Philharmoniker” is a well known Austrian coin. We got one as a gift from my husband’s grand aunt on our wedding day. At first, I thought it was just a commemorative coin but later, I learned that it is also made of 24 karats gold.

People buy such coins to invest their money on gold. Gold prices fluctuate constantly but that’s the good thing about it. When the financial crisis happened last year, the value of gold went down but many says that it was the best time to buy gold coins because when the economy picks up, the value of gold will also do so.

The value of gold moves alongside the value of Euro. It means that when the Euro is doing well against the US Dollar, which is the case for several weeks now, gold value will definitely climb up.

I wonder what’s the value of our Wiener Philharmoniker now? I don’t like to sell it (ever) but I am curious because if it’s really a very good investment, we might consider buying some of these coins.

It was nice of the plumber to come to us even if it is a non-working day. He knows that we are in a bit of a rush now with the bathroom because it’s been days since our last proper shower. Today he mounted the bath tub and the shower plate. Good. But we can’t have proper shower yet because the bathroom is not yet tiled. The tile guy will just come on Monday and also, that doesn’t mean we can use it right away (after laying the tiles) because the tile glue will need at least 24 hours to dry. So it looks like we can just have a “proper shower” on Tuesday evening. Yesterday, that thought really annoyed me but right now, I am okay that the “proper shower” will just be on Tuesday evening because we can make the “tabo shower”.

That means, I could fill some pails with water, sit on the bath tub, and use a “tabo” (“dipper” in English) to pour water on me. I could of course just fill the tub with water and have a bath but the state of the bathroom right now does not make me want to stay there for more than 15 minutes. So I think, a quick tabo shower is the most convenient. I’m cool with that because for me, it will just be like the old times in my grandparents’ house. In those times, there was no way to take a shower other than to take a tabo shower. It worked perfectly then so I think it will still work now.

It’s like it’s the time of the year again when it seems that there’s something special happening in everybody’s life. Two of my girlfriends are expecting a baby and two others are getting married soon. I am so happy and excited for them. The babies will come later but the weddings will be happening next month. I would like to come celebrate it with them but I am too far away so I can just look at these save the date postcards they sent me and wish that I could be there.

For the friends who are having the babies, maybe there’s a chance that I can attend their baby showers because girlfriend number 1 is just in Italy (around 6 hours train ride from here) and girlfriend number 2 will move to Austria soon because she wants to have to baby here.

This got me thinking, who will come to my future baby shower when all my friends are so far away?

This is definitely embarrassing but I will share it anyway.

We moved into our new house last Sunday and that was the last time we took a proper shower. We enjoyed our last shower in our old flat before returning the keys to our landlady. We knew that there’s no bath/shower in our new house yet so we made sure to savor that shower because we are not sure when will we have the chance to shower again.

Until now, I have to content myself with cat shower because the d**ned Baumax didn’t deliver our tub and shower plate on time so our schedule for things to be constructed is completely ruined. Now we finally have the bathtub and the shower plate but the plumber is not available. Then of course, we also have to worry if the tile guy will find the time to come to us and make our bathroom.

I’m just so thankful that one of our toilets is done before the move. There’s a small sink in there we can use to wash. I wash my hair in that sink then I have to use a big basin to wash my arms and legs. Then I use a face towel for the rest. It sucks! Although I try to wash myself as clean as possible, I still don’t feel 100% cleaned (showered). I don’t feel refreshed.

I want a real shower!

We got a house early this year and we are working on it day and night. We have to finish at least the most important parts of the house before the 28th of February because we should be able to live there by then. Our contract on the flat we are living in now will expire at the end of this month and we decided not to extend it anymore. We only have three weeks from now until we move in to our new house and we are not even done with the painting!

Our target is to finish the painting, the bathroom, the toilets, and the floors before we move in. We also want to finish the kitchen but unfortunately, it will only be delivered and mounted on the 8th of March so for the first eight days, we will have to eat out or be contented with home deliveries.

My father-in-law will come sometime soon to help us with the work because there’s no way that my husband and I can do it before our target date. We need some help. My brother-in-law is already 15 years old and physically, I think he is able to help us but he can’t miss school. And on the other hand, he’d rather spend his weekends driving his new motorbike. He got it on his 15th birthday and he’s really crazy about anything motorbike. He actually already listed things like fox motocross jeans, motorcycle jackets, motorcycle helmet, and other motorcycle accessories on his wish list for the coming Easter.

The house still needs a lot of work–hard work. But to tell you honestly, I don’t mind doing the hard work. I am actually very motivated to work on it because I am already excited to move in!

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching. In the past years, hubby and I worked all out to make this occasion special but since we are busy with other things this year, we agreed to keep it simple.

By simple I understand that we will be skipping the lavish celebrations but we will definitely still do the gifting. And because we are keeping it simple this time, I would like to give him a simple yet very personal gift. I haven’t decided on one yet. Customized stuff such as shirts, mugs, personalized pens are very common already but are still not a bad idea. They’re still on my choices.

But I want something really personal so perhaps I’ll visit the naughty “s” shop and get something from there. What do you think? Haha! It crossed my mind several times before but I never gave him anything of that sort. So anyway, I want something funny to give (like a macho dancer costume—hahaha!) and that’s where I thought of getting it from. I always fancy going inside one of those shops because of curiosity but not once did I find the courage to do so. Perhaps this time… Who knows? *Wink! If not then personalized stuff it is!

Although hubby and I have been together for more than three years, I still feel a bit shy every time he asks me what I want to receive as a gift (for special occasions). But my shyness is not the reason why I always say “flowers” when confronted with such a question. I really like flowers and I think that flowers make a special occasion more special. Flowers are very romantic. I think that they can melt the heart of most women.

Valentine’s Day is still a month away but I am sure that soon, hubby will ask me what I want for this occasion. And after hearing my answer, he’ll ask his second question which is, “other than that?” I can’t understand why a lot of men give themselves a hard time thinking what they could give their partner for Valentines! What is more romantic than flowers?!? Beats me.

So they could google the Top Valentine’s Gifts for 2010 but if anyone wants my advice, give your sweetheart a bouquet and some chocolates or balloons. It’s predictable and old fashioned but it is still romantic. You could, of course, give some other things too (if you want to be gallant with your present) but never ever forget the flowers.

Since I got my car last October, I had two accidents. The first one was not serious. I got a few scratches that are not really visible from afar. The second one came as a shock to me. I was not hurt (thank God) but my car spinning and hitting a post is not really what I’d call fun. I honestly thought I died.

It was my first time to drive on a snowy/icy road and it was really weird and difficult for me. I didn’t feel that my car has a grip on the road so I remember being really careful but although I exerted extra caution, my car still slipped and that’s when it happened.

My car made a semi circle then it hit a post.

Luckily, only the number plate was damaged (and a few negligible dents): nothing we can’t take care by ourselves.

So instead of getting my car fixed by mechanics in super expensive car repair shops, my husband consulted some auto repair shops online and repaired the damage by himself. That saved me some bucks.

Luckily, I have a husband who is knowledgeable with automobiles and luckily too that he doesn’t mind getting his hands dirty to do some manual works especially if a work has something to do with cars.

I know that it is too late to send out my greetings through my blogs but I think that I gave out greetings to most of you through Friendster, Facebook, YM, and chikka already.

So anyway, here’s a quick update about my holiday.

We spent our Christmas at my in-laws. I’ve got some really interesting gifts and my favorite is one of the gifts I got from hubby: The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. I also got the Hobbit from him and so the next few weeks will be spent reading these books.

The days between Christmas and New Year were spent visiting friends and relatives and of course, shopping. There are just too many post-Christmas sales happening around so it’s really a good time to shop. I’ve already spent most of the Christmas money I received.

Countless hours were also spent telephoning with my friends and family back in the Philippines but of course, it is not the same. I truly miss all of them and I hope to see them all soon.

I will be going back to work on the 7th of January. I will be going through a minor operation before that and I hope that I have time to heal before I go back to work.

So that’s pretty much it.

By the way, while writing this entry, I notice that Google PR has updated again and this blog still remains PR 0.
