I Miss…

I miss eating fish. Here, you can buy fish from Walmart or from the wet market but they’re nothing like what we have in the Philippines.

I don’t like veggies that much and I am getting tired of pizza, pasta, and meat. I want fish! And not just any fish! I want fish from Philippines. Pritong Tilapia, Paksiw na Galunggong, Boneless Bangus, Sinigang na Sapsap, Maya-maya, Lapu-lapu, Espada and a lot more. I also miss tinapa (smoked fish) and tuyo (salted dried fish).

This is another sad thing about living so far away from the sea. Sure there are lakes here but errr….ummm…maybe they’re not the cleanest so there is that to worry about. Also, brackish water fish and sea water fish taste better for me. I prefer them more than those you get from fresh waters.

Other than fish I also miss Sisig and Crispy Pata. I can make my version of these here but they won’t be as good as the ones I can have in the Philippines. My husband cannot imagine eating any meat from an animal’s head so I made the Sisig from a regular pork chop, mayonnaise instead of pig’s brain, lemon instead of Kalamansi (because they don’t have Kalamansi here) and other ingredients.

I also put some lemon slices on it just to make it look nice. The taste was okaayyyy… better than no Sisig at all.
