This Christmas

This Christmas will be the first Christmas that Marcus and I will spend together and we are spending it as husband and wife. :-) I decided to buy my Christmas gift to him in Europe. Upon arrival there, I still have two days to get him a gift. I just have to connive with my in-laws to take me somewhere where I can buy something. I am looking forward to be in Austria again because this means a lot of good cakes, chocolates, cookies, bread and Schnitzel. Also, I will be able to see my in laws again…haha, you probably don’t believe it but they are super nice folks. Eventhough we can’t communicate to each other that well, they have their own way of making me feel like I am a part of their family.

As to my family back in the Philippines, this would be my third Christmas away from them. I know it seems cruel but I don’t feel that sad because I am sort of used to being away from them already and I am sure that the feeling is vice versa. Of course I do miss them but we talk so often on Skype and this makes me feel that even though we are not physically together we are still very close to each other.

In other news, Marcus “R” went to work this morning. Yesterday is supposed to be his last day at work before our trip to Austria. We were supposed to spend this day preparing everything but unluckily, he still have to work today leaving me to do the packing and everything. I hate it. This new project he is in now seems to be very demanding. He works from 7:30 am to 7:00pm and he have to cancel our trip to the Philippines this coming February because he have to work in this time. :( Now, I don’t know if it is the best decision to stay here in China for another six months.

Day 3 in the Land of Sissi

I am well-rested today compared to the previous mornings. I slept at 10pm and woke up at 6am. Sweet. After a tiring hike yesterday, a long good rest is inevitable. Thanks heavens!

I cannot, no matter how I try to, explain the beauty of the places I am seeing here each day maybe because these are not usual for me. I have been to other countries in Asia but they are nothing like the places I see here in Austria. Of course each country I have been in Asia have their own beauty to speak of (especially Philippines) but I don´t know… Countries in Asia give me the feeling that I have not really left home or that I am still somewhere near home. The places and people I see there are very similar to what I see everyday back home. But here, I just know that I am in another place. Not necessarily a better place but just a very different one.

Asia has fine world class beaches, mega cities, superb cuisine, unique culture, and a whole lot more which we, Asians can be proud of. And some few things which Europe can boast about are its historic cities, classic architecture, endless meadows, and high quality of living. Two different worlds in my point of view and I am lucky that I have the chance to see both.

Day 2 in the Land of Sissi

I woke up at 5:00am again today. Urg! R said it would get better in a few days. I hope that it gets better soon or at least before Saturday because for sure, I wouldn’t like to look like how I am looking now on what is supposed to be the most important day of my life.

Yesterday was nice. R, H, T and I had a little walk around the city while waiting for E to have her hair done. We went to this tiny park where the autumn coloured trees are and I´ll tell ya, ´tis extremely pleasant there. Sure, there´s autumn in China but you have to go far uphill to really have a feeling of this season. Here in Austria, there´s a fair number of trees all over the place making the striking colours available everywhere.

We had a nice KEBAB for lunch after the walk. Finally, after craving for months, I was able to have that tasty Kebab with special rice and yogurt once again.

Back in the Land of Sissi

We just got here yesterday at about 8:30pm. The plane landed in Vienna at around 6:00pm and because of the heavy rain that greeted us, we needed more time than usual to drive home. We got a really nice welcome from R´s family when they picked us up at the airport plus we got a nice woof and meow of welcome from Jimmy and Connie when we got home. We didn’t sleep directly though the Jetlag was dragging us to bed. We stayed up a little bit to eat some pizza, drink some wine, and to talk with R´s family. We went to our room at about midnight and we started to unpack however, we were not able to finish it so I continued it this morning.

My jetlag is really bad this time. I am fully awake at 5:00am after an extremely short 4-hour sleep. I still feel unbelievably tired but staying asleep is impossible. It wasn’t bad when we went here last summer in fact, I didn’t feel that jetlag have struck me back then but now, Oh poor me, I feel that it is making up for whatever it failed to do the first time.

Today we plan to go to downtown and have breakfast there and maybe lunch too. I have noticed from looking out of the window that the trees changed their colours already and they are beautiful. I am sure that we will have a lot of pictures when we get back.
