Cheers to Blogxi!

I was long gone but during our holiday in Austria, I always tried to check Blogxi as much as I can and I am pretty happy that there are some serious bloggers who signed up there. One blog I constantly read and eagerly wait for updates is “I Love Sterndal”. It became immediately my favorite because I can always sense sincerity and honesty in it. The author of the blog is someone I don’t personally know but looks like we are going to be good online friends. She seems like a nice simple Filipina girl and I think she’s pretty smart.

D Brain Hailing Job” is also one hell of a personal blog and though I know the author is not a student from UP, he really sounds to be so. I think he can write for the “Young Blood”—a compilation of cool writings from college students.

Another frank and honest personal blog is the “Journal Logger”. Here you’ll read about the life of “Abby”—a mom to “Princess Vav” and a wife who works overseas. Be lost in her insightful views of life, be entertained, and be uplifted.

Ruthi, who you surely already know, also has a blog in Blogxi. “Scrappy Thingy” shows her collection of Haikus and scrap books. That woman has around 10 blogs! I don’t know how she manages everything. All I know is that she can manage everything well.

Blogxi’s blog should also be updated soon—that’s my job and I am really sorry if I can’t update it as often as I like. “Penny Wise” should also be updated soon! Urg! I have other blogs in line needing new entries and I don’t know where to start! I mean really?!? Ruthi must be a superwoman!

My Thought on Friendship

friendship.jpgA real friend does not only cheer you up when your down, does not only help when you’re in trouble, does not only listen and be there when you cry. A friend does more. A real friend is sincere and frank and may not agree always agree with you. She’ll tell you you’re wrong when she thinks you are. She’ll tell you that you look cheap and stupid in those clothes or with that make up before anyone starts making fun of you then she’ll urge you to change. She’ll tell you that your decision is wrong when she thinks you’re doomed but she’ll be there. A real friend sees and protects your interests and not only hers.

If you are blessed to find one, keep her by being a friend to her just like she is to you. Never let her down because this world full of leeches and you’ll never know if you’ll find a real good friend again.

Thanks to Ruthi

I think Ruthi has done a great job writing articles for BizarreMarriage.com. All her articles about intercultural marriage, intercultural relationship, and online dating are very straight forward and at the same time entertaining. I really can say that it was a good decision to hire her to write for that blog.

I like all her articles specially the online dating series and I have one favorite and it is where she said the following:

Mail-order Bride is a thing of the past. But intercultural marriage is still the thing of the present. Intercultural relationship defied discrimination against race. Intercultural marriage challenged cultural barriers. And intercultural union disputed geographical obstacles. Therefore, there is nothing that can change or alter it because of one important reason – it is acceptable. Two people of different culture, race, tradition, orientation and background are bind together with common understanding, dedication, acceptance and commitment. And with these facts, our society has totally recognized its existence if not the significance of this kind of relationship.

It’s a very direct and honest statement and I completely agree with everything in it.

Making Friends

I have invited two classmates to come over next Sunday. I will cook for them. I haven’t which dish to cook yet but I think I will cook some Filipino food.

My husband thinks it’s a good idea to make friends in my German class. He said that since I refuse to speak in German with him, it would be good for me to have some friends with whom I can be comfortable speaking in German with. I think he’s got a point but I am inviting these people because I think they are nice and because I genuinely just want to make friends.

HuangLi and Becky are both Chinese. Becky can speak good English and the only chance I can speak with HuangLi is if I speak German with her. HuangLi is very young nonetheless; she is obviously the best in class. HuangLi and I used to sit together but the instructor rearranged the whole class and paired us up with a partner who is supposedly better or worse German speaker than ourselves to create some sort of balance in the class. Becky, on the other hand, is an art student who will continue studying art in Berlin. Her English is good but I don’t suppose she’s got so much interest in other languages. Becky and I see German as a completely obligatory thing. We are not learning this language because we want to but because we have to.

They are both nice to me and I think I can be good friends with them.

A Letter to my Tutor

Dear Eun Hye,

Hello! How are you and Larry? I hope everything is fine with you guys.

Marcus and I are okay. We arrived in Shanghai on June 30th and we stayed in a hotel for three weeks. Now, we found an apartment in Pudong District and. The apartment is smaller than what we have in Changchun but it’s nicer.

I have to say, I like Shanghai more than Changchun. Shanghai is super hot and polluted but life is way easier here. Most of the people here are able to speak English and there are a lot of things to do here …unlike in Changchun.

About my German… my exam (in Austria) is scheduled on October 5th. I was advised to finish all three required books (A1/1, A1/2, and A2/1) before I take the exam. We only finished 2 books so I decided to continue learning German here in Shanghai.

A fews weeks ago I went to a university to enroll for the A2 course but because I don’t have official certificate showing I finished A1 course, the university needed to check if I am qualified to take A2 course so they gave me some exams. The results were excellent! This means, I don’t need to go through A1! Thanks for again for tutoring me.

In other news, I think Marcus’ boss needs to talk to Larry about a job. Well, I am not sure. I just heard them talking (in German) about this and because my German is not that good yet, I might be wrong. But if I am right… well, it would be great to have you and Larry here in Shanghai.

So, I’ll end my email here. Nice greetings to Larry. Write me back because I am dying to hear from you!

Best regards,
Vienna

MyPinkNotes.com Welcomes a New Author

Yep, that is right. Ruthi will now join me in running this blog.

She is a friend I met through blogging and as a matter of fact, she is already running five blogs herself so I was little bit doubtful about her agreeing to co-author this blog with me but I asked her anyway and fortunately, she accepted.

So expect the “The Author” page to be updated soon and expect to read more of Ruthi’s work because I will be away for a month or two for a vacation in Europe. I won’t be able to blog that often and because I don’t like MyPinkNotes.com and all my other blogs to be neglected, I talked to Ruthi about updating this blog every now and then. And as for the other blogs… well, I have yet to ask her about those too.

So, cheers to Ruthi!

I'm Back

I am back from Beijing. The train ride was not that bad. I was still able to sleep. The only uncool thing was that we were not in one cabin. Daniel and Anne had to stay in another cabin with four other strangers and Marcus and I stayed in the cabin next to theirs (to go and to go back). That took away the fun part from going to Beijing by train with your buddies. Nobody in Anne and Daniel’s cabin wanted to exchange tickets with us and it’s the same with the strangers in our cabin (bunch of party poopers). They didn’t want four foreigners to stay in one cabin and have fun. The rest of the trip was okay and I will definitely post some pictures later.

In the meantime, I will bore you with some things like the comment given to me in one of my posts about Getting Married to a Filipina. You may go check it out and leave your thoughts. There’s also a very interesting comment in my post, Sol Latino in Changchun which you might want to read and react as well.

I am thrilled that my blog is being read by some people who are actually interested what I write and in what I say about their situation. Cool. :)
