A Letter to my Bestfriend (in German)

I have finally translated “A Letter to my Bestfriend” in German. I have worked hard on it and I am proud that I was able to make such letter in German with just little help. Although it is further simplified (because I really can’t no matter how hard I try to translate it) I think I still was able to successfully send the message across. So, here it is.

Liebe Mailene,

Hallo!

Deine Freundin,
Vienna

A Letter to my Bestfriend

Now, I know that the letter sounds so kindergarten-y but you see, I have to translate this in German ( a homework my German teacher gave me) so I made it as simple and sort as possible. I’ll leave the letter to you as I have to go to my German class. Bye now! Tchus!

Dear Mailene,

Hello! How are you? I hope that this letter reaches you in good health and that everything is doing well with your and your family.

It’s been a long time since the last time we saw each other. I guess it’s more than five years now so we really have a lot to tell to each other! I will start. Do you know that I am now married? Really! At 26 years old, I am now a wife of a wonderful man and the story goes like this.

In November 2005, I came here in China to teach English and in the summer of 2006, I met a very interesting person. His name is Marcus and he is from Austria. He works as an automotive engineer. He is a very nice, smart, and simpatico (symphathetic) person. Plus, he is very handsome. I fell in love with him immediately and I am lucky that he fell in love with me too. And so, we got engaged in Malaysia last February 2007. It was very romantic and I would like to tell you all the details but it is so difficult for me to express it in German.

Anyway, the story continues. In October 2007, we got married in Austria. Our wedding was very simple but romantic. You have to excuse me if I can’t fully detail it as you know well, my German is still bad but if you want, I can show you some pictures.

I believe this is now my happy ending and I so would like to share it with you. I miss talking to you and I wish I can just go see (but we are to far from each other). Please write me back as I am dying to hear from you.

Your friend,
Vienna

In a Few Days and a Few Days Ago

In a few days, I might do some MIA act.

It is not like I am going on a big trip anywhere but I will stay quiet in a while. I will busy myself with some other things than blogging like my German Lesson and our bi-monthly visit to Beijing. Yep, we are going to Beijing again but this time, we are going with our hooked up but are now certified couple friends and activity buddies, Daniel and Anne.

Since Marcus, Daniel, and Anne have real jobs and are busy, the task to arrange the trip was awarded to me (thank you). We’ll probably spend three days there which is good. It should be enough time to visit Starbucks and the Foreign Languages Bookstore. Going to the great wall doesn’t appeal to me anymore since I’ve been there twice. Anne is excited to see the wall because it’s her first time to go to Beijing. I am not going there again so maybe we’ll split up for one day so they can go to the wall and Marcus and I can do something like shopping. Haha.

Marcus is having his birthday in a few months and starting today, I am trying to get some ideas about what special things I could do for him on his day. Also, I am already thinking what gift I could give him. Anne said it’s way too early. I say hey, I wasn’t me who gave a surprised congratulation party for my partner who didn’t get the promotion yet.

It’s funny how it was.

A few days ago, Anne organized a surprised party for Daniel. The party is supposed to express our heart-warming congratulations for Daniel’s promotion but then last Saturday, we were the ones surprised by Daniel when he said that he didn’t sign any contract yet and though his boss already gave him the thumb up, they are still negotiating on a few things and if these things weren’t settled for both parties, Daniel might as well forget about the promotion. Haha. Anyway, we still had a blast last Saturday. A few close friends of Anne and I came and we partied and used the karaoke I got from my parents in law. It was fun.

Some Updates

I have been busy for the last few days until now because I am changing the theme of my The Two Geeks and my BlogLeafs blog plus, I also started a new blog bearing my own name, Vienna Lopez.

In other news, I am disappointed to find out after Google updated its Page Rank last week that the PR of this blog went down from PR 6 to PR5, Penny Wise and The Two Geeks got PR 0 from PR N/A. Ha!

But I got a consolation.  My Pink Notes got PR3 from PR N/A and some of my blogging friends got some nice PRs too like Jessie and Juliana. Congrats to your PRs. You both deserve it.

And to my critique, I still take it that you are criticizing my works and me personally and that you make fun of my posts and my blog no matter how you explain otherwise.

On the brighter side of everything, I went bowling with my husband and few of our friends. Don’t be fooled by my pro-like bowling positions showed on the pictures below. In reality, I truly suck in this game.

The Reason Why I Don’t Respond to Tags

I am constantly receiving tags from my blogging friends and I am truly thankful for this but at the same time, I am sorry because I won’t be able to will not forward the tags. I hope I don’t hurt anyone’s feeling by saying this but I don’t believe in tags. I do believe in giving out some linkylove to my blogging friends but I also believe in uniqueness. If all blogs will post about the same tag, award, meme… will that make our blog still unique? Why not just thoughtfully mention your blogging friend’s blog in your blog and link to her?

What I Got for Christmas

Christmas is over but the whole house still has the mood of Christmas. We are still eating special food and drinking good wine. We are still being invited to dinners and we also have visiting relatives during the day. I guess it would be like this until the New Year. My in-laws are really warm hearted folks and I truly feel at home here with them.

Anyway, I got a lot of presents and I am really thankful to the people who gave me these. I got a pink Filofax organiser with a matching pink Parker pen from Marcus. He also gave me a Starbucks notebook and a voucher at Palmers (famous lingerie store). I got a Christmas décor from my brother-in-law along with cookie molds and a cookie cookbook. From my parents-in-law I got a book about Sissi, a book about Austria, shower set, a voucher at a mall and a ticket to a musical (Marcus got this one too). From Marcus’ grandmas I got cookies, chocolates, liquor, and Christmas cards with money.

And oh, I got a mini karaoke set from my in-laws. This is their late birthday present to me. Aren’t they thoughtful?

I'm a Cupid!

I remember mentioning a dinner where we were supposed to pair up a colleague of R and a friend of mine. So we had that dinner, the two met and it looks like everything is working out between them. We went out as a group last night (again) and after that we came here in our flat for a late coffee. The two seem to be so in to each other. At some point, R and I excused ourselves just to give them privacy. We went to bed and left the two in the living room and they stayed there talking until 4:00 a.m. Daniel (the guy) left after talking to Anne (the girl) who stayed here for the night. It was prearranged because she lives so far. Daniel, whose flat is also in the same building, will come here again later in the afternoon and maybe tomorrow too for our Second Advent breakfast. I am curious and excited about how things will turn out for them.
